Back to board games

Roleplaying Exalted is kinda faltering now in my group. I'm hoping that we'll get a fresh start as a friend of mine starts a new game and lets me play for the first time in several years. I'd hate to stop playing Exalted because it provides me with escapism and wonder better than most things.

Going for weeks without feeding the gaming geek inside took its toll, so today we bought a board game. We took a chance and went with Arkham Horror. I've rarely gone wrong with anything involving Cthulhu, and I didn't this time either. We stayed up until 4 in the morning playing it. It's a strategic, cooperative game with a good the-clock-is-ticking-towards-doom feeling of things Cthulhu.

A solid evening of geeky fun made me feel better about realizing that there's absolutely nothing in my calendar but work and dates for releases of movies, comics, games and books. I really should do something about that...
