I think most comedies made after 2000 suck. I think "There's Something About Mary" and "American Pie" pretty much completely ruined mainstream comedies. There's no subtly at all anymore. I feel like I'm being beaten over the head with obvious jokes, and there's no relatability in any of the characters.
That's why I tend to think the funniest movies now are what some people would call "dramedies" because movies that fall into this category tend to be more down to earth, have more creative jokes, and not trying so hard for laughs.
