Important pieces of me are now miles away but they remain very close to my heart. Physical distance cannot harm my emotional connection to those that I love. I feel there may have been certain words unspoken but all in good time. Just some of the people I have run into in the past few days have really motivated me even further. Above all these people are Marines. The guy who works at Borders, the three men I met at the gym and most importantly: My Recruiters. I spent the entire morning with these guys just shooting the shit and I was so happy. I'm going to miss being able to see them whenever I needed to.
"...earn it."
"Remember what I said about being a leader."
I have nothing but the utmost respect for these fine individuals. Haha with 275,056 brothers and sisters I'll never be alone. My friends who have departed before me will be missed but I know I'll see them again. Then there are those who have taken a piece of me with them and I have willingly given it. Sean, my best friend for the longest time is now closer to my dad than I am, haha. I know he'll do well at Loyola and I know he'll probably come across this text and I am glad I got to see him off properly: by watching Argentina win the Olympics coupled with Dr. Horrible. Little moments of perfection are all we can expect out of life...so says Tyler, loosely quoted.
"I want you to hit me as hard as you can"
"No, not even in the face of Armageddon. Never compromise."
This summer flew by and as much as I didn't get to do I still accomplished so much. My heart grew heavy at certain points but all in all everything worked out as it should. I am who I am today because of what I did yesterday. I will be everything that I'm needed to be and more. Because somebody has to be there to defend what is right and what others cannot do themselves, I am more excited than anything to get this college adventure started and all the other little branches that will sprout off of it.
"I'm an ocean in your bedroom."
Well this is it from home. I'll be outta here at 10 tomorrow and situated at the campus a couple hours after that. Last hurrah tonight. Should be fun. Adios.
