The reason why Logan didn't keep in touch with Veronica has a few layers. Some will be revealed when they talk at the reception (so the next chapter or so), and others will be revealed later. It's ... complicated, just like our favorite jackass is. I know I'm being cryptic, but ... we'll get there, I promise. :)
As for Esperanza's mother ... I don't think I'm saying too much to say that it's no one that we've ever met before on-screen. So, no worries, I promise that Logan isn't married to Madison or Meg (who is still alive in this AU! :) or ... whomever. You name someone we've seen on screen, and I will guarantee that she is not Esperanza's mother. Again, that is also something that will be addressed more at the reception. So the next chapter or two, maybe. I do have everything for this fic all outlined (14 pages of fun!), but it's so hard to know how much I can fit into one chapter without feeling like it's too overwhelming.
Hopefully I'll have time to write over the weekend, but before I write another chapter of this, I need to get my upcoming vm_summer chapters written. Mine are due in the next month or so, and I really want to make sure that they are done well ahead of time so we can stay on track. Yeah, I know that doesn't really help you, but at least Logan doesn't have a child in that story - at least, not that I've heard of yet .... ;)
