"Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country."

I'd like to preface this by stating - first off - that the overriding point of this post is this: If you are an American, and your state is holding a primary or caucus tomorrow, get out and make your voice be HEARD. [Vote early and vote often! ... Kidding, but still, VOTE ( Read more... )

I admit that I'm not all up on McCain's policies - but that's something I will certainly read up on should Hillary win the nomination. Since I'm not educated on the subject, I didn't put that detail into my post since I can't say that I *will*, but that I'm considering it at this point. It's all theoretical for now as I will be voting for Obama [via absentee ballot] when Wisconsin votes in a few weeks. But as the months pass, I'll have to evaluate the political landscape. And, of course, a third party candidate could still run, so that would shake things up further.

If nothing can get accomplished due to gridlock between Congress and the White House [as seen over the past two years], no change is accomplished either. I don't take the current Democratic advantage in the House and Senate as a given, and if Hillary is the nominee, I wouldn't be surprised if more Republicans than usual turned out to try to - one - stop her from being elected and - two - get other Republicans into the national government.

It's a decision that I certainly hope I won't have to consider, but it's a matter of looking at the bigger picture, for me. Again, hopefully I won't have to make that decision, but I'm not sure I can vote for Senator Clinton. Not at all.

Well, I know you're not the type to just go voting all willy-nilly. Or at least, from what I've seen, you don't seem the type and you would rather educate yoruself before checking off that ballot. I just have a deep deep deep aversion to another 4-8 years of Republicans in office. It actually makes my stomach turn for many reasons.

Personally I'm kind of hoping for an Obama/Clinton or Clinton/Obama ticket. I think her experience and knowledge combined with his ideas and ability to inspire people would be like... WONDER TWIN POWERS ACTIVATE! Each of them has what the other needs, IMO, so combined they could be GREAT and not just good. I don't actually think that will happen, but it sure would be sweeeeet.

I'm a pretty hardcore Democrat though, and though I will agree that McCain is less scary than Romney or Huckabee, he's still really scary and I don't want him near the White House. Even if he leans towards the more moderate side of the Republican platform, he's still... a Republican. (I'm really really stubborn on that, I know. LOL.)

Of course, my voting job was done weeks ago now so I've just been twiddling my thumbs until November rolls around and hoping I don't have to move to Canada. Canada is lovely, but it's too damn cold so I'd rather stay here. LOL. ;)
