Momoko's apartment, El Paso Texas, Late Sunday Evening

Mar 30, 2014 23:13

It wasn't until she was done with her third shower that Momoko remembered she'd turned her phones off while on this assignment for Oracle. She growled at the purple glow that still stuck to her arm ("Stupid intergang weapons...") and reached for her cel to listen to her messages.

"Warren..."After half an hour of trying every way she had to contact ( Read more... )

Return message:

Thank you for the offer; in return, as I did promise to inform you the next time, may I offer you dinosaur steak? Let me know when you might have time.

Momoko had to consider that a bit, then called Doctor Lecter back.

"Dinosaur steak?" She asked, after the appropriate greetings were done. "There were dinosaurs on the isand?!"

"For several days," Hannibal answered, shaking his head. "Jono and I were attacked by one, and he was able to kill it. So, I have steaks. Not the best meat I've tasted, but the opportunity doesn't come often."

"Wow," Momoko shook her head and pouted. "I miss the best parts of Fandom weird, now. I was there a whole week and no monsters at all! Just all of my friends being totally weird."

She shifted the phone a bit to try to reach her planner. "How did it taste? The dinosaur? I'm totally guessing it wasn't one of the vegetarian ones?" Hmm. When could she squeeze in a daytrip...

"It was not," Hannibal confirmed. "Probably the closest meat I've had in taste was alligator. It needed quite a bit of tenderizing."

"Ooh! I've never had aligator either!" Momoko was pouting at her calendar. "How well do you think the meat will keep? I can't see getting back to the island for a while." Oh how she hated asking that question. Food was always better when it was fresh!

Why does this thread keep getting dropped from my pinned threads?

"Don't worry; I have a very good freezer. I'll see it keeps until whenever you're here," Hannibal promised.

[IDK! *kicks LJ*]

"You, doctor, are the best." And she meant that! "Did the island weirdness get you? Other than attacking you with dinosaurs, I mean."

"Several times," Hannibal answered. "But nothing terribly traumatic. I'm looking on them as learning opportunities. And yourself?"

"I was fine, but most of my friends got caught up in it," Momoko sighed. "And I wasn't able to help. Totally makes it hard to be a hero."

"Sometimes doing nothing can be very hard," Hannibal acknowledged. "But we're all fine now, apart from dealing with the memories."

Momoko nodded, leaning back in her chair. "Which isn't something a hero can help with much, either. Which means all I can do is be a friend, and when they don't even remember who you are? Totally hard."

"Very hard," Hannibal answered. "But you can be there for them now."

"Not the same," Momoko chuckled, "but that's totally my plan."

...

"You're okay, right? Nothing weird happened that you maybe want to talk about? I'm totally awesome at listening! And I've lived on the island for long enough that I'm totally used to the weird!"

"I'm fine; thank you for asking. I got to spend a bit of time as different versions of myself - an artist, a criminal, a woman - but as I said, nothing terribly traumatic. Or even that strange, given some of what went on." He'd never actually lost his head.

"An artist? Oooh! That sounds nice and relaxing!"

"I'm glad that you didn't have too bad of an experience. Especially since you're still fairly new to the weirdness the island can go through. Lots of people get scared off after less."
