Momoko normally had classes on Saturday, but today was National Foundation Day! The government holiday celebrated the start of the country of Japan over a thousand years ago, and so the Academy was closed for the day. This was doubly awesome for Momoko because Leda was coming to visit!

She had tried out her somewhat rusty conversational Japanese (she'd learned a bit while living in Bordertown) at Momoko's parents house and hoped she hadn't made a complete fool of herself.
Or at least, no more so than she did by totally gawking like a tourist during the tour.
"Hey you gotta start somewhere yeah?" She leaned casually against the wall. "You're not gonna get in trouble for letting a civilian hang out here are you?"

The door from the street opened and a uniformed man walked in, taking Leda in with a quick glance and then nodding at Momoko. "/Cadet Akatsutsumi. As soon as I sign in, you're relieved./"
Momoko quickly stood and saluted. "/Yessir./"
The officer continued to the back room and Momoko returned to her chair, sending it spinning in a circle. "He said I can go as soon as he gets back! Takoyaaaaaki!"

Could that be the reason she was reluctant to pursue Polaris? The last girl Leda had felt this strongly for had been Karla. And that...hadn't worked out.
But this was not a time for brooding. Soon they could go do fun stuff!
"Oh goodie!" she bounced. "So what's first on the agenda?"

A few minutes (and a quick report to her relief officer) later, and Momoko was dragging Leda through the crowds and to the first of the many many MANY food booths. "It's still early, so we can spend lots of time just walking around! You'll have to tell me when you're bored or tired, okay? Oh! There will be fireworks tonight, too!"
