Tokyo City, Japan, Saturday late afternoon

Momoko normally had classes on Saturday, but today was National Foundation Day! The government holiday celebrated the start of the country of Japan over a thousand years ago, and so the Academy was closed for the day. This was doubly awesome for Momoko because Leda was coming to visit!

But of course, the plans for the day were totally changed by ( Read more... )

Leda of course glomped Momoko right back. She complimented Momoko on the uniform, and tried to hide the fact that she was le tired Leda. She totally needed this.

She had tried out her somewhat rusty conversational Japanese (she'd learned a bit while living in Bordertown) at Momoko's parents house and hoped she hadn't made a complete fool of herself.

Or at least, no more so than she did by totally gawking like a tourist during the tour.

"Hey you gotta start somewhere yeah?" She leaned casually against the wall. "You're not gonna get in trouble for letting a civilian hang out here are you?"

"I just wish the start wasn't so boring, though!" Momoko gave a wry grin. "But no, you're totally fine. I mean, I can't do it all the time, but this time it's okay. Besides, it's a police station. We're supposed to take care of civilians! That's totally what makes it worth it."

"How long can you stay, did you say? Do I need to stuff, like, everything into a day?"

"I've got three days. Not as long as I'd like to really see the country, but that just means I have to come back." That is if she didn't decide to run away and live in Japan forever and always.

"Don't think of it as boring, think of it as..uh, relaxing. Yes, that's the ticket."

"It's only relaxing if you're not doing it every day." Momoko snorted, stretching a bit as she leaned back in her chair.

"Wait, so you're leaving the day before Valentines Day? Are you rushing to get back to sooooomeoooone?"

Leda sighed. "Sadly no. There's a few possibilities I guess. There's a girl I fancy but I don't know if she's interested. And there's a guy that's interested but he's got a lot of growing up to do before I'd ever consider it. What I could really do with is a nice Dude in Distress." Or Damsel she supposed.

"I don't know that I can help with that, sorry. Even if I introduced you to someone here, you'd have to pretend to be someone you're not." Momoko frowned at Leda. "Why haven't you asked the girl you like if she will go out with you?"

Leda chuckled wryly. "Oh, the usual reasons. It's weird though. I never used to be this shy about this sorta thing. Of course we also don't see much of each other. She lives with a band of 'outlaws' out in who knows where. I sent you the pictures right? Her name's Polaris. She'd got a really great kid named Sila."

"Ah! The ones who sort of rescued you?" Momoko still was not happy that she hadn't been called to help, but at least Leda had found allies and was safe now. "So you really like her, eh?" So much that she was scared to ask?

The door from the street opened and a uniformed man walked in, taking Leda in with a quick glance and then nodding at Momoko. "/Cadet Akatsutsumi. As soon as I sign in, you're relieved./"

Momoko quickly stood and saluted. "/Yessir./"

The officer continued to the back room and Momoko returned to her chair, sending it spinning in a circle. "He said I can go as soon as he gets back! Takoyaaaaaki!"

Leda totally would have called Momoko! You know, if her mirror hadn't been broken and Momo could have crossed into Faerie.

Could that be the reason she was reluctant to pursue Polaris? The last girl Leda had felt this strongly for had been Karla. And that...hadn't worked out.

But this was not a time for brooding. Soon they could go do fun stuff!

"Oh goodie!" she bounced. "So what's first on the agenda?"

Momoko gave Leda a shocked look. "FOOD! It's a festival! We totally have to eat everything! And then some games! And I can show you the local shrine!"

A few minutes (and a quick report to her relief officer) later, and Momoko was dragging Leda through the crowds and to the first of the many many MANY food booths. "It's still early, so we can spend lots of time just walking around! You'll have to tell me when you're bored or tired, okay? Oh! There will be fireworks tonight, too!"
