Room 512, Thursday afternoon/early evening

Aug 25, 2011 21:21

The room looked empty. It wasn't of course; Spock's things were still there, but all of Momoko's posters were down, her books and action figures and DVDs were gone, her desk was empty. Moshi, his carrier and a couple of carry-on bags were all that were left. Even the aquarium and her monstrously ugly AWESOME pink bookshelf had been packed up and ( Read more... )

Scully swung by, hands in her pockets, looking rueful. "Will you please be careful in the future? I hate to think of you getting hurt and not going to a doctor."

"But how can I go to anyone else?" Momoko jumped up to glomp her, chuckling. "You're my doctor-person! I'm totally spoiled for anyone else, now!"

Scully sighed and hugged her, petting her hair. "Then call me, and send me a snapshot of anything too bloody. Or bruised. For crying out loud." She shook her head. "Or just call, even if you're not hurt."

"I'll always call, don't worry!" More chuckling. "And I'm totally teasing, Scully. At home we don't have nearly as many dangerous monsters and my 'headquarters' is the National Laboratory. After every mission, we can go back and take baths and have tea and eat and get checked out."

That was, of course, in Tokyo City. If she was in another world...

Please don't give Scully that heart attack today, Momoko.

"I approve of this regimen," Scully said gravely, letting her go, and taking a step back to look at her, head tilted. "You're fully recovered after last week? No other side effects?"

She was totally not going to mention that, no worries.

She did, however, change her smile to a slight grimace. "I still have all the memories, but they're not right there. That's good. And I can eat cake again without thinking about meat!" Momoko reached for the left hem of her skirt and shifted slightly to show her thigh. "This won't go away, though."

'This' was a jagged area of grey skin on her upper thigh, about size of a small salad dessert plate.

Scully traced a finger over it, nodding. Then held her other hand to show off black, talon-esque fingernails. "I think there are some things that just aren't going to go away. Does it hurt? Does it give you any trouble at all?"

"Eh! Scully! I didn't notice! I'm sorry!" Momoko grasped Scully's hand to look at it. "Is that going to be a problem? can you still do stuff? Medically-stuff? I can file them down for you! And I still have a bottle of polish! It had fallen behind the bookshelf."

Oh, and no, it didn't hurt.

"I've been filing them." And filing them and filing them and filing them... Scully quirked a smile. "Thanks, I ran out of polish. And yes, although typing is a pain." And she had those little finger-protector thimbles for when she got utterly fed up. "Aaaand you didn't answer my question."

"I didn't mean anything by it!" She chuckled. "No, it doesn't hurt. It feels the same until I actually touch it, then it's like the touch doesn't feel the same?" If she had any scar tissue, she'd say it felt almost like that.

Momoko dropped Scully's hand and turned to root through one of her bags for the polish. "They keep growing back, huh? Do they hold a shape at all other than sharp?"

"Curved?" Scully watched in bemusement. "Which is why I'm trying to keep them short. And I'm glad that patch doesn't hurt. Possibly it's just scar tissue at this point."

Momoko shook her head. "Some people can get away with really long nails, but they need to be shaped right. Ah! Here! Charged-up Cherry!" She held the almost full bottle out to Scully.

Scully bit her lip on a smile, and said, "Thank you. That would be great." As a way to say good-bye, it was far better than checking bandages. "I'm not a long nails person anyway, but anything that doesn't draw attention to them..."

"I can totally shape them cute for as long as it will last?" And in her other hand suddenly appeared a manicure kit.

"I'd love that," Scully admitted. "I'm going to miss you, Momoko." And the insanity of getting dragged into things like drag races.

Momoko squealed excitedly and grabbed Scully's hand to pull her to the bed "Sit sit!" And plop down beside her. Momoko began spreading the kit out eagerly. "I'll miss you too, but I'll be calling and emailing and texting and stuff, don't worry. And if anything interesting happens you have to tell me."
