Somewhere in town, Saturday evening
Blossom was not happy. She'd set about rescuing townspeople and that was good, but now she had a moral dilemma.
She couldn't send them flying off the island because they multiplied in water, so she had knocked unconscious any gremlin she came across and locked them in a conveniently located abandoned shop. Well, she'd tried locking them in. Who knew the ugly things could pick locks? And apparently they were even smart enough to build a tiny catapult thingy on wheels from some scraps and old merchandise. So now there was a tiny army of gremlins running about, chasing her, trying to escape to cause more damage and, yes, flinging things (and sometimes each other) at her as she flew about trying to stop them again.
These were not zombies; they weren't already dead and just somehow possessed and made to move. They weren't ghosts or demons or anything that she could say was not alive. These were living creatures and they were smart and could think and some could talk, sort of, and Blossom did not know what to do to stop them, short of killing them. Which they seemed intent on forcing her to do.
Which made her both upset and angry. And then they hit her in the face with a catapult shot full of rotten tomatoes, some stuff she hoped was mud, and, ow, a toy car?!
"Agh!" She stopped flying and floated in place, trying to get the mess off her face. Which was when a troop of commando gremlins descended from somewhere and onto her, biting and clawing. She took off flying, fast, and loop-the-looped enough that most fell off. The remaining few she reached for and tore off her, bashing them into walls.
She let her yo-yo fly at one of the little monsters on the ground with more force than usual and tried to ignore the squishy feeling in her stomach when the gremlin's head caved in and the body twisted around and fell. The feeling didn't go away with the next one she took out, either.
