"/No. By the time I got home he'd pretty much calmed back down and mom was the one upset. You totally need to explain things better, Nee-chan./" Kuriko made her sister's old Hyper Blossom doll do a cartwheel, landing a kick squarely in the chest of a Ted Kord Blue Beetle action figure. "'Ah! I've been defeated!'"
"/I don't think there's a good way to explain to your parents that you want to move in with your boyfriend/," Momoko sighed as she continued to unpack her things. Satisfied Priestly was okay and Dinah wasn't going to collapse from worry, Momoko had left New Gotham and returned to Tokyo City to find her parents calm and approving of her San Antonio plans. And Kuriko waiting with bags at the ready.
As part of the payment for helping smooth things over with their parents, Momoko had agreed to let Kuriko stay in El Paso with her for a few days and see America. Although apparently Kuriko's job hadn't been as difficult as the bribe payment she had demanded, since their parents had called Jaime's parents and gotten the full story from them. Which was awesome, but a little scary - when had they gotten so close that they trusted each other like that?!?
Still, Kuriko had apparently helped some, and it would be nice to show her around. For a few days. A few.
"/Well for starters, you could have said that you were going to have separate rooms?/" Kuriko rolled her eyes and tossed the doll back onto her sister's desk.
"/I tried. I got as far as saying it was a cute little two bedroom and then dad sent me upstairs. I told you he wouldn't listen if it was just me. I learned that from when I asked to move here in the first place./"
"/Mm. Well. Since they were already mostly okay with it, I just had to press a few buttons. You know, like tell them your other plan was to work more jobs and pay all his bills. Dad had a fit at that/," she giggled.
"/Why?/" Momoko asked, as totally confused as when Jaime had protested the idea. "/Mom worked when we were growing up?/"
"/'How is he a man, being carried like that?!'/" Kuriko shook her fist at the air as she quoted their dad, then fell back to the bed with a smile. "/There's a difference between helping out and paying for everything, you know. Plus dad and mom were married and mom was only working for fun./"
Momoko snorted. "/That's stupid. I'm totally investing in my future! For when we get married!/"
Kuriko raised a hand. "/That's when mom went up in smoke. When I said it was a good thing you weren't just getting married./"
"/WHAT?!?!/" Momoko went up in smoke, herself, moving to stand over the bed and glare down at her sister. "/Why is that a good thing?!/"
"/Because neither of you have jobs. And besides you haven't finished school./" Kuriko rolled her eyes. "/Seriously, Nee-chan. Even I know that's not a good idea, and I'm only seventeen./"
"/Oh./" Huh. She hadn't told Kuriko that was why they weren't getting married and yet she'd figured it out! "/Well, of course./" Momoko calmed down and then fell to the bed next to her sister. "/And mom was okay with that?/"
"/Well, when I added that it was setting an awesome example for me and how proud I was of you making such smart decisions.../"
Momoko reached over and grabbed a pillow, hitting her sister square on the face.
The ensuing pillow fight was epic; luckily Mrs Wilson's was out for the night or there would have been trouble.
