I loved this chapter so ridiculously much. I have a thing for sequences like this anyway, where two people (especially in a pairing), both go through injury and danger and still are both there for each other all the way. This chapter was absolutely the best example of it ever, though, seriously. I love it so much--I think it might be one of my favorite things of yours so far, honestly, and you know I don't say that lightly. I just love all of it--the beginning with Poland and Liet and Tony (oh, Tony--your characterization of him is seriously amazing, and I was laughing to myself through that entire section). And then you moved on to the pulse-pounding action, and I was totally pulled in even more. I could see everything you described so clearly, and just . . . the whole thing made me squee and took my breath away, seriously. Like this section:

“America!” He yelled out hoarsely, his fingers aching to have more than a small patch of cloth holding him safe, but knowing it was not possible to hold him with more than one hand while the hook knife (so important to saving America from his current dilemma) was still held aloft in his left hand.

“E-England,” he gasped out, “how did you…”

And this section:

Well, they’d just have to bloody well take it on the chin and deal, inevitable bruises and bumps and all.

“Hold on, love,” England called out, yanking the release cord for his reserve parachute and quickly flipping his hook knife inward so it would cut his palm rather than America’s chest.

Gripping him tightly now with both hands, they were both yanked upward as the wind caught their singular parachute. It wouldn’t last for long, England knew, with their combined weight, but it would allow for them to be a little more prepared for a rough landing.

And especially this:

England pressed a kiss to the back of America’s neck and clutched him closer, already feeling the hook knife biting into his hand. “I’m quite ready for it so…”

Okay, that kiss is just . . . *melts* I love them so much as adventurers, and in these fics you really really sell it, seriously.

And then the landing section was just kfjdlajflka with the tension and everything else. You hit every "taking care of each other in adversity" button I possess, I swear, and the way they both fuss but are both equally tough, and just everything about the way they work together . . . I love it so, so, so much. And I loved the hint of what's to come (whatever that may be) with England sensing the magic at the end, especially since it's something that America can't sense--it really adds to the whole thing, and it's really epic. I'm so excited for more of this fic, I can't even tell you. Amazing, amazing job. ♥

I'm really glad to hear how much that sequence worked for you! I enjoy that sort of thing as well- in which two characters just have to keep supporting each other. It's always such a great dynamic. I'm also pleased to hear that you're enjoying Tony! He's going to play an important role in this story, so I always get excited when people are enjoying his role so far. XD

And I'm super glad the action reads all right. It's always so tricky to get the images of the scene in my head into words that I feel convey everything I envision. So to hear that a it works for you is wonderful for me.

Oh yes, England is definitely sensing a hint of the danger to come. And as you noted, it's something America can't sense, which adds a whole other level of problems to their situation.

As always, thank you for commenting and supporting me on this story! :)
