Mongrels, though I am loathe to admit it, I do believe you've turned Sheol into an even worse kind of hellhole in my absence....Tch, can none of you do anything right without the guiding light of Gilgamesh to lead you through it?

[ a sigh. ]

I suppose this means I'll be needing a place to stay again.

Oh...

You're here again? You kept the memories?

I guess someone should bring you up to speed on things. While everyone else is around complaining about this and that...

The year's been bad since pretty much New Year's. People had visions of the future then, some people went a little crazy because of them. Then that satellite that fell after Halloween started beeping, and some woman over the communicator starts mocking us about it. Someone worked out that to turn it off was like a puzzle, and the kid that found the solution wound up blowing up anyway, because the whole thing exploded. This released some deadly viruses that two or three of the doctors here have seen before, so they were able to heal some of the people infected. Other people have had lung parasites and chicken pox.

Then last week there was this gas problem. Same person, turns out, wants to sabotage our scientists dumb little experiment, and tried that by breaking a pipe full of gas somewhere. It leaked all over the city, made us put out our fires and half freeze to death, and nearly suffocated everyone.

We thought it has blown away, but I guess the air was still toxic high up, because on Thursday it rained acid. They have the woman who did it down at the clinic, and I think they're actually treating her for something, but I hope they're interrogating her good at least too.

Prydain, exactly what has this place come to in my absence? I thought we killed the idiots who tried to harm ours in such blatant ways?

Apparently there's more.

Fortuna natives.

For -- what?

How did that come about?

People who lived here! People who lived in this world before we came. Not the scientists. Besides them. They hate us here, we don't belong.

...It's hope that there's working cities with better supplies out there somewhere, at least.

Slow down, boy, you're speaking gibberish.

People from Fortuna have surfaced in the City? Or elsewhere?

I'm not speaking gibberish. I'm explaining things.

The lady who broke the gas pipe is someone from this world. I don't know if they're from Accido or Discedo or some other city, but they were here before and they don't like what the scientists are doing.

And it's just the one woman? Why hasn't she been taken care of, yet?

I don't know if there are others, or how many.

...I think they have her at the clinic, though. I guess the 'police' are handling it.

Some things really never change.

Are you and yours well?

Gohl needs to replace a back window, we had some unexpected reaver company just after the rain, but...we're in okay shape. Better shape once our heat source decides to stop messing around at Latimir. I guess it gets tricky from now on though, with knowing if food god contaminated from the rain. Looks like plans to make one of the parks an outside garden are shot.

Namine's here again.

How dangerous are the rains, exactly? I've never heard of acid raining down from the heavens outside of scripture.

Well, they just about melted the skin off those reavers. They had big open flesh burns and were bleeding. Whatever held together the bar's roof is coming apart. I haven't checked ours yet, but...

Yeah, I dragged those soaked reavers out, and my hands were already itchy and red just from that. I've seen other monsters dead in the streets.

Any chance of it happening soon?
