Summary: Oh the joys of being a Speedster.
Heya folks. Names Bluestreak, former X-Person, former Dream Teamer and current Avenger. They call me that because I hate staying in one place for too long, unless I’m playing video games, then it’s on. I’ve been around the proverbial block despite my super hero duds having a new car smell on them. Aside from my above resume I’ve also learned from some of the best out there like Mr. Clint Barton, the former Hawkeye and Elektra…the former Elektra, funny how she’s a ninja but doesn’t keep her name a secret, oh well.
Even as a kid I loved being the center of attention. I was always in a rush to get places and meet new people. Years later my X gene activated and the fun hasn’t stopped since. Just after my powers activated Jubilee of the X-People showed up at my doorstep to lend me a hand with my new abilities. She introduced me to Mr. Barton and I essentially trained with both of them, I guess when super villains aren’t popping up all over the place like Doctor Doom or that Goblin guy the super folks take the time to form networks with each other.
Well, short story long, since I love to ramble of course, I joined the Dream Team and now the Avengers, and good thing too, the Dream Team looked like loads of fun but name recognition like with the Avengers was something I was really hoping for. And while I’d love to be a one girl show beating up all the baddies even I have my limits. Though if you see any burglaries that fail because the folks with the guns amazingly have their shoes tied when they weren’t looking you can take it as being a clue I gave everyone a hand.
Though I guess I shouldn’t act like I don’t try to take credit because I’m so super selfless here. Mostly it’d because I’ve noticed an amazing trend of all the news folk asking me where my team is, or at the least where American Dream is. Yes yes boys, I get it that the tall blond is photogenic, calm down. And let’s not even go into poster sales. I’m the fourth of the four Avenger girls sales wise. American Dream leads the sales, then Crimson Curse takes second, Stinger takes third and when I’m even included in mentions I’m fourth. Geeze, I was good buds with Aerika/Crimson but its still weird she gets more sales than me and she is not even around anymore, bless her soul. Course it’s a tad more annoying when instead of being in an individual poster I end up being lumped with some of the other reserve Avengers like Wild Thing, Spidergirl and Blacklight.
Aw well, I’m sure it’s just a temporary thing and I guess it doesn’t matter in the long run whose name is where in the standings as long as I’m kicking butt and saving the day when I’m running about. Still having the drop on bad guys just never gets old. Sometimes I even let the baddies spot me before I disarm then, if for dramatic effect than anything else. You’d be surprised to see how long it takes some of the folks to notice they don’t have guns to shoot anymore, sometimes I even pants them for a good chuckle. That always helps make a headline, even if I’m not there when the media hounds start snapping.
Still even putting aside the chance for fame and the adoration of the public, which I’ll admit is a bit difficult at times…I just love helping people even outside of the whole costume shtick. I volunteer a lot of time and effort outside of my Avengers work helping people. I transport medical equipment across seas, sometimes piece by piece even. And having super speed is an amazing help when you have to clear land people need so that they can feed themselves after a company took over their land in a sadly legal way. I even donate blood rather often since I recover fast and my blood gives people accelerated healing for an hour or so after they get a transfusion. After all you’d be amazed at how many problems you can fight by just being there. I’ve been turning myself into a globe trotting defender lately and it’s one of my favorite parts of having these powers. Though I’ll admit when all is said and done it’s still tiring and hunger inducing, thankfully the Avengers compound always has plenty of food to keep up with my metabolism.
So what can I say, I’m a media hound at times and humanitarian at others, but most often I’m both, getting recognizability lets me help people more easily after all. It’s not like you all thought I jut wanted the fame for myself did you? Well, my names Bluestreak, I’m an Avenger and I’m always on the run and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
