Housekeeping Note: The Towns

Apr 08, 2013 17:01

Still need to be done. I am working on it, I swear. I just need to come up with a list of places the kids from each school hang out at as well as other places around town.

If anyone has any ideas...drop me a comment.

I've been debating over whether Marvel and DC have any sort of organised crime - a Wilson Fisk or two as it were.

Also I can see several Industries are based in competition to each other in the towns - Howard's STARK Industries, OSCORP, Thomas's Wayne Enterprises and maybe Queen Industries? I've also wondered how people from realms like Asgard might be handled, possibly there's some kind of pub for Asgardian types like Sif or the Warriors Three to frequent.

Lastly I was thinking if there was a Mayor in the two towns? I've previously suggested Jonah Jameson for Marvel, but I thought of Mayor Sharp (from Arkham Asylum/City) for DC? Does anyone else have any ideas?

Hope you don't mind me voicing some opinions on this(I seem to be doing that a lot here).

Right now, I get the feeling crime would be like how it was on "Fillmore!", not the actual versions, but high school imitations of them, mascot-napping instead of kidnapping, stink bombs instead of real ones, etc.

I can see that, as for the Asgardians, it would probably be the same way we'd need to handle aliens. Not so much alien to the planet as much as alien to the town or country. That being said, I've probably read too much Dresden Files, because I imagine Odin running a security company.

As for mayors.... Not sure, so many choices. I'd suggest Luthor, but I see him being one of those school bullies who'd be less about actually hurting people directly, and more about manipulating things to get what he wanted and using people.

Dresden Files <3333

Yeah. I definitely see Luthor being more on the high school level.

And funny you should mention mascot napping...cause it's coming...

Oh, if Natasha and her boys do that, bad things are going to happen. Harley already suggested Hal help her with pranking them, and the only thing holding him back was because they did nothing to deserve it.

Oooooh.

Well, it was bound to happen. We all knew a war was brewing between these schools. They're like Bayside and Valley. (SBTB references for the win!)

Hal says he's Zac, because no one else is cool enough to be it... although if you go by current groups, he's part of the Valley kids just because of how many baddies his school has in comparison to the Goodman kids.

Yeah. Sorry, Hal. You guys are definitely Valley.

We're Bayside. I think Bucky might be Zac. Or Steve. Steve's got the hair for it.

Steve doesn't have the personality for it, so... maybe Bucky.

(No worries)

Well, I think that's up to change, but if you've ever watched Fillmore, I'm sure he can act very police-y while being a principle, especially if he's also made an ex-police officer.

Exactly! And another idea would be "The Bifrost" which would also cover the rainbow bridge part, while sounding much cooler.

:-D Glad we are on a similar page about him, and for Sinestro, I don't think he'd be a teacher, I think he'd probably be more of a senior on the school watch or whatever the safety patrol would be, and he'd have a reputation of keeping his hallways clean and safe, but also secretly having pulled that off by making everyone who he's suppose to be protecting afraid of him.

That's sounds about the right sort of character, not seen that film but I can imagine that sort of thing. Gordon being an ex-police with his family sounds perfect.

Bifrost, I like it, that would work perfectly. I imagine the Warriors Three as a bunch of frat dudes who hang out there drinking and partying and have connection to Thor or other.

Yes, a senior who keeps people fearful of him would be perfect. I also imagined Kilowag as this gruff PE teacher at one point.

It's not a movie, it's a cartoon series that was on in about the 90's that lasted for two seasons. It's basically the standard cop drama, only instead of it being cops, it was the Safety Patrol of a middle school. They had crimes like mascot-napping, sabotaging a train display to destroy other train displays, grand theft scooter, rigging a mini-golf tournament ran by the school, etc.

Either that, or three college kids working at the bar.

Yes! He'd be that PE teacher who helps teach the kids by throwing dodge balls at them.

Ahhhhh, gotcha. When I was a kid it was all CBBC and CITV so I don't know that one.

That's sounds about right, so long as Volstagg is a hefty fellow and Fandral is still very Errol Flynn'y.

HA! That would be perfect, yes. I got the image of him tossing green dodge balls at all the rookie Lanterns in my head now.

You really should watch it. I downloaded it and rewatched it recently, and it's still awesome.

Of course!

Not green, yellow. That was one of the ways he trained the rookies to deal with the weakness to the color yellow.

Edit: And I just had a thought today. Fandral as the bouncer/man by the door of the place. Only had this thought because I imagine teen Thor going to the place with Fandral there when it's closed and going "Fandral, open the Bifrost!"

Yes to the Industries. So much yes. And can you see Bruce, Tony, etc. all trying to out rich boy each other...cause I can.

Sharp's not a bad idea.

Kate's family has the monopoly on publishing, yo. She'll just be over here going "ugh, boys are so stupid"
