Heroes may have already wrapped up its second season but that doesn't mean that Milo Ventimiglia will be having a lot of idle time during the show's hiatus. The 30-year-old actor, who is best known for his role as idealistic hero Peter Petrelli, has just been added to the movie Armored, as if the current cast for the upcoming action film wasn't enough to create some positive buzz.

Ventimiglia now joins the star-studded ensemble consisting of Matt Dillon (Crash), Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix), Jean Reno (The Da Vinci Code), Skeet Ulrich (Jericho), Columbus Short (Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip), Fred Ward (ER), Andre Kinney (NYPD Blue, Hannah Montana), and Glenn Taranto (The New Addams Family).

Currently shooting in Los Angeles, Armored tells the story of “a young armored car guard who is persuaded by his veteran cohorts to empty a truck of its $10 million car.” The film will be produced by Sam Raimi of Evil Dead and Spider-Man fame, while Nimrod Antal, who is credited for Vacancy, will serve as the director.

No release date has been set, though the film is expected to hit theaters in 2009.

Meanwhile, the Heroes actor has other upcoming projects besides the movie Armored. Ventimiglia also stars in the crime thriller Pathology, which follows a group of medical students who devise a deadly game in order to see which one of them can carry out the perfect murder. Directed by Marc Schoelermann, the movie also includes Alyssa Milano (Charmed), Michael Weston (Six Feet Under), Lauren Lee Smith (The L Word), Dan Callahan (Spider-Man 2), Johnny Whitworth (CSI: Miami), and Mei Melançon (X-Men: The Last Stand), just to name a few.

Supporters of the Heroes actor will be pleased to know that production for Pathology has already been completed, which means that fans can soon enjoy the movie when it hits the theaters on February 8.
