Nathan

I apologize if this has been posted already but I haven't seen it discussed:

Have we established who actually shot our favourite Congressman? Does anyone have any thoughts? I'm thinking it was HRG.

Discuss!

Don't get me wrong, I do think Bob engineered it all: i just think HRG was the ACTUAL assassin. If you look closely when the figure is walking away as Matt watches, I thought I could see the figure wearing a distinctive pair of glasses. And we know that HRG has "made a deal" with the Company that involves him going back to them. What if the Company are blackmailing him?

Also, it'd make a nice twist, having Claire's father kill her other father...

I know! I love him too! I just think he was in such a desperate situation because he wants a normal life for Claire so badly, that he is resigned to doing whatever the Company want :(

wasn't it sylar?

Would Sylar be concerned with taking out Nathan at this point though? He seemed pretty intent on the task to get his powers back then.

though he might not be, it just adds up in my head. sylar had a gun from after he shot maya and stuff, so he'd be ready to assassinate him. and maybe just the silhouette as the figure walked away made me think that.

I suppose you could say that. Although it has been established that the Company have guns as well; eg, Bob giving Suresh a gun.

I would say HRG. Where were they when Nathan was shot? In Odessa, right? Sylar was in NY, so he couldn't have done it. Though it would have taken HRG some time to get to Odessa from Cali, the company would have known something was up. It could have been part of his deal to get the company off the Bennet family's back. The guy also looked very tall and lean, a lot like Jack Coleman.

My thoughts exactly! I think it WAS part of his deal with the Company. They obviously knew Nathan was about to "out" them to the media and therefore basically the world so they needed him silenced.
I'd say HRG is only complying to the Company's way of doing things (ie, killing Nathan) because he wants his family to be safe. He told Claire to stop trying to expose the company, which, coincidentally (!) is exactly what Nathan was trying to do when he got shot.

Yes! Besides, HRG is not the type to give a shit if other people have to die to keep his family safe. I kind of hope HRG is even more of an 'evil' character next "volume" - maybe conflicted but very much like ">:| I must do what I must >:|"

And what he does with Mohinder if they're both working for the company could be exciting!

& yeah, Nathan was in Odessa Police Station because they had been at Primatech.

I think it was Peter, but then I would:D

Seriously, though, could be. He might have seen yet another horrendous future and done this to stop it. It would be a future version of him, though.

Or not.

Ooh that's interesting! Would be a good plot turn. Except he was right next to Nathan. Though Peter could have randomly acquired cloning powers?!

Ohh future Peter. That would make more sense! I dunno though. The whole horrendous future preminition thing has already been done twice. And I still think it was HRG!
I just dont think Peter would murder Nathan in such a cold-blooded way; a hell of a lot would have had to have happened in order to make him do so.

i think if it was hrg, which im hoping it wasn't, wouldn't they have shown him at the end talking to nathan and peter's mom?! i feel like they would have made it a point to show it was him.

Maybe the point is for it to be a mystery and open to speculation until the Vol. 3. I sort of got the impression that Angela was talking on the phone to Bob at the end.
