And after Clash of the Titans the Scions of Miami (and their Scion allies) went from being mere Heroes to Demi-Gods. So here is Zara's Visitation story.
Zara sat on the sandy shores of Miami Beach. She rested her chin on her knees and stared out into the churning bloody waters. Bodies of Genma Demons, undead pirates, and unfortunate mortals churned in the waves. At least the sky was clear. The stars and moon shown clearly after Sonny had deflected the missile safely away from the city. Eve crawled down from behind an overturned car and circled around Zara. She looked at her mistress sadly as she rested her large head at Zara’s bare feet. Zara ignored her and continued to stare out into the bloody ocean.
“You need to cheer up girl!”
Zara didn’t raise her head or turn to see who it was. The voice was warm and friendly, fatherly really.
“Maybe…” She shook her head. “Not maybe. I should. I should do more.” She leaned back on her hands as Eve rose up to look at the man behind her. “Do you think I’m lazy?”
Damballah laughed and stepped nearer to her. His feet were bare too. “I think you’ve already answered that for yourself. Now cheer up! If you ain’t gonna be lazy, start now!”
Zara smiled and looked into Eve’s eyes. She noticed Eve was looking a little pale. Her skin was ready for shedding. Zara stood up and patted Eve’s head. “Do you have any advice for me?”
Damballah held his sides as he laughed. “What advice would you want from me? You know what you wanna do. Do it!”
Zara wrapped her arms around Eve and laid her head on top of Eve’s. “I’m having girl troubles. I think its because I never got ‘the talk’ when I was little.”
Damballah walked up to his daughter and set his left hand on her right shoulder. “Don’t worry about her. She’s young, you’re young, when you’ve been around a little more you’ll get it.”
Zara avoided looking out at the beach. “And all this?”
“This is what happens when the Titans get loose. If you let this eat you up then they’ve won.” He looked out at the water and spat into the sand. “They weren’t even after you, this wuz just them fightin’ each other.” He tightened his grip on her shoulder. “So you need to be ready for when they do come for you and your friends.” He reached into his pocket with his other hand and withdrew a ring made of the first skin Eve ever shed. “Here, I know you ain’t much of a people person.”
Zara smirked. She turned to look at her father and the ring he offered.
Damballah nodded. “Sass, that’s the sass from the daughter I know and love. I was worried for a second there.” He grabbed her hands with his free hand and put the ring into them before closing her hands around it. “Now follow me. You need a real house.” He turned and started walking down the beach. “House boat is great and all, but my daughter is gonna get somethin’ just a little bit sweeter.”
Zara motioned to Eve as she followed behind her father. The massive serpent weaved in and out between the two as it slowed for their leisurely pace. Damballah lead Zara far down the beach until they were in an area with huge gated homes. He pointed ahead to one that was filled with people. Zara’s lips turned up into a grin. “So Miami gets destroyed and I get a huge mansion? I’m really looking forward to seeing what you do when Florida sinks beneath the ocean.”
Damballah didn’t look at her. “Oh I was thinking a floating airship for that.” He held his arms out wide. “A big one.” He grinned at her over his shoulder. “Your sister’s in there.”
Zara’s eyes brightened. “Bobbi? What’s she doing here?”
Damballah looked back at the house where he could hear music. “Well all your people are gonna need a priestess to organize them.”
Zara walked up to her father’s side. “Wow my own cult. Eat your heart out Ephyra.”
“Now don’t go playin’ around jumpin’ through horses left and right, makin’ them do the Thriller dance. Nah I’m kiddin’ do all that.” He looked at Zara who was smirking at him. “You need the practice.” He looked back at the house. “Thriller is the gateway dance to other dances.”
“Uh huh.”
“And if you wanna be all moonie and go back to nature by cutting the power and hot water you can do that. But with that many people I’d recommend regular showers.” Damballah looked over at Eve who had pressed up against a car and was pushing her body against the metal. Her skin was peeling off revealing an even more brilliant emerald green. But her head had taken on a different shape. She looked more like a gaboon viper in shape and as she pushed off her old skin her body stretched until she had doubled in length. Damballah nodded at her as she slithered over to them.
Zara looked at Eve and grinned excitedly. “Oh Eve, you’re even more beautiful.” She kneeled down on one knee and waited for Eve to press her large muzzle into Zara’s lap. “Awww my beautiful girl. Let me see.” She pushed open Eve’s mouth with a lot of effort to see the two enormous fangs she now had. “My precious baby, now you’ve got bite.” She let Eve close her mouth and she cradled her head and began to sing.
Damballah sat his hand on his daughter’s shoulder again. “Careful. Singing like that might put her straight to sleep.”
Zara looked up at her dad who pointed down at the slumbering serpent.
“Things are different now daughter.” He let her go and looked up at the sky. “The Titans are on the move. They’ve got something going on in the Overworld and the Underworld. The Sumerians aren’t the only gods who’ve fallen.” He motioned to indicate Florida. “Native pantheons,” he indicated over his shoulder with his thumb in what was assumedly a western direction from where he was standing. “Polynesian.” He shook his head sadly. “They are still pouring out of Hades and Hades hasn’t been able to get his own realm back yet. I feel sorry for the Greek dead.”
Zara sat Eve’s head down gently before standing. “I won’t let you down.”
Damballah held up a hand. “I don’t want you thinkin’ you have. You haven’t. Just do what it is that you are wantin’ to do. But remember not all technology is bad.” He looked his daughter in the eyes as he spoke.
Zara smirked. “Well that sure is easy for you to say.”
He laughed and hugged her.
She hugged him back. “So is that it? No thunder or rain of frogs?”
Damballah shrugged. “Well I had a laser light show planned but the damn machine messed up.”
“We’ll just drop it off at Rosie’s and it’ll be ready in no time.”
“I dunno, it might have a giant magnet attached or something.”
