A/N: This is somewhat AU and takes place just before the action starts in episode 2.07. It's rather different from the angst that I tend to write, and it's the first time I've attempted to write Niki, and I got the idea for this 4 hours ago and wrote it straight through, so I hope it makes sense and that the voices feel right. I just really want Mohinder to have a friend, and dang it, I'm going to find a way to give him one, if only for a little bit.
Summary: A frustrated, worried Mohinder gets ordered out on a mission with his unwanted new partner.
