Summary:Taking place sometime between Godsend and Landslide. Audrey interogates a familiar face and discovers something shocking about herself. Bishop tries to find a new mode of transpoartation. Megumi discovers she can't trust everyone.
Author Note:This fic is written in screenplay format and is inteded to work as a'spinoff' of Heroes. It's primarily made up of original characters, with the only main character transferred over from the show beingAudrey. I do foresee a couple 'guest appearances' by other charactersin later 'episodes'. Since the scripts work out to be about 40 pageslong, I'm breaking them up into smaller segments. What follows would bethe first segment before the title. Enjoy! And comments and reviews arealways greatly appreciated.
INT. POLICE OBSERVATION ROOM #1 - DAY
SUBTITLE: Knight, Roland & Audrey Hanson - Los Angeles
A folder opens, revealing a picture of Knight and dossier. The pages are flipped through.
MALE DETECTIVE (O.S.)
Amazing stroke of luck, picking him up like that. You’ve been looking for this guy for a while, huh?
The folder flips closed.
CHAPTER ONE: LUCK is printed on the outside of the folder.
AUDREY HANSON, a young FBI agent with blonde hair, looks through the two-way mirror into the interrogation room on the other side where Knight is sitting, handcuffed to the table.
AUDREY HANSON
Quite a while.
CUT TO:
INT. POLICE INTERROGATION ROOM #1 - DAY
The door to the interrogation room opens and Audrey enters. Knight looks to her, a smirk forming on his face.
JIMMY KNIGHT
Hanson? If I’d have known it was you doing the interrogating, I wouldn’t have used so many colorful words on the arresting officer.
AUDREY HANSON
Cut the charm, Knight. I’m not in the mood.
JIMMY KNIGHT
Hey, I just stopped a hold up. Probably saved a few lives.
So how bout some gratitude?
And your phone number wouldn’t hurt, either.
AUDREY HANSON
Pretty uncharacteristic of you, stopping a hold up.
JIMMY KNIGHT
What’s that supposed to mean?
AUDREY HANSON
You’re wanted in questioning for over a dozen high profile
robberies in ten different states.
JIMMY KNIGHT
We’ve had this conversation before.
Is it my fault I’ve got a tendency to be in the wrong place at the wrong time?
Audrey tosses his file down on the table, flipping it open to an arrest report.
AUDREY HANSON
You’ve already been busted twice before for B&E.
JIMMY KNIGHT
Yea, when I was a minor. Stupid kid stuff.
I haven’t gotten busted for anything more then speeding since then.
Hardly the rap sheet of a career criminal.
AUDREY HANSON
No, it’s the rap sheet of a professional thief who’s very good at
what he does. I know you’re planning a job here in L.A.
That guy you were with in the bar, he’s your partner.
CUT TO:
INT. POLICE INTERROGATION ROOM #2 - CONTINUOUS
Roland sits cuffed to another table. The room is almost identical to the one Knight is in. Across from Roland is the Male Detective.
ROLAND CORT
I just met that guy tonight. I don’t even know his name.
MALE DETECTIVE
We have numerous witnesses who say they saw you approach Knight and start a conversation with him.
ROLAND CORT
I asked if the seat beside him was taken. That’s all.
MALE DETECTIVE
I ain’t buyin’ it, pal. You walk into a bar and just so happen to sit
next to a guy who the FBI’s been looking for in relation to over a
dozen crimes? How do you explain that?
ROLAND CORT
Bad luck?
MALE DETECTIVE
You better come up with a much better story fast, or you two are
gonna be sharing a cell.
Roland sighs.
ROLAND CORT
Alright. You’re gonna think this is crazy, but there’s people out
there who have abilities. Like, supernatural abilities. Somehow,
I can sense if a person has them. That’s why I was talking to him,
because he has some sort of ability.
The male detective looks at Roland for a few moments, then bursts out laughing. He turns and heads for the door.
MALE DETECTIVE
I’ll be back in a little bit. Maybe then you’ll feel like telling the truth.
As he reaches the door, it opens and Audrey enters.
MALE DETECTIVE (CONT’D)
Don’t bother with this guy. Says Knight has some sort of magical abilities.
That all sorts of people do, and he can sense it.
The detective leaves the room. Audrey looks over at Roland.
AUDREY HANSON
Abilities, huh? Like the ability to steal thousands of dollars worth of precious
stones and not leave one trace of evidence as to who the culprit is?
Roland stares at Audrey.
AUDREY HANSON (CONT’D)
Why are you looking at me like that?
ROLAND CORT
You’re one of them, too. You have a gift.
AUDREY HANSON
Yea, my gift is sensing when someone’s trying to screw around with me.
ROLAND CORT
That would be a pretty useful one.
AUDREY HANSON
What’s Knight’s ability?
ROLAND CORT
What’s yours?
AUDREY HANSON
I don’t have one. I was working with a man named Parkman who could
read minds. You must be sensing some sort of residual energy from him.
ROLAND CORT
So you believe what I’m saying?
AUDREY HANSON
About people with abilities, sure. About Knight having some kind of ability,
definitely. About me having one? No. Now tell me what Knight’s power is.
Phasing through walls, invisibility, what?
ROLAND CORT
I don’t know.
Audrey starts to grow more annoyed and angry. As she does, the light in the room starts to dim more and more.
AUDREY HANSON
Quit jerking me around, Cort. You said you could sense powers.
You mean to tell me, you can’t tell what they are?
ROLAND CORT
It doesn’t work that way. I just look at people, and see some of
this kind of aura around them. Those are the ones with gifts.
AUDREY HANSON
And, what, you just tracked down James Knight through his aura? What for?
ROLAND CORT
I don’t know. There wasn’t really any plan behind it. I was walking
by the bar and I could feel something inside. I went in and saw him.
AUDREY HANSON
I don’t think you’re telling me the whole truth. And I want to know
what you’re doing to the lights.
ROLAND CORT
Nothing. My power doesn’t have anything to do with lighting. It must be you.
Audrey stops, blinking once, and the lights return to their normal brightness.
AUDREY HANSON

EXT. ICE STATION PUB - DAY
SUBTITLE: Bishop - Somewhere in Alaska
The pub is a medium-sized wooden building. Snow mobiles and sleds are parked outside. Bishop crunches through the snow up to the pub’s entrance.
CUT TO:
INT. ICE STATION PUB - CONTINUOUS
Bishop enters the small pub and pulls off his gloves, shoving them into the pockets of his jacket. He stomps the snow out of his boots before heading for one of the stools in front of the bar. Sitting down, he waves the BARTENDER over.
BARTENDER
What’s your pleasure?
BISHOP
A beer. Anyone heading south?
The bartender nods, grabbing a bottle of beer from under the bar and popping the top off.
BARTENDER
Guys over in the corner are going south. You might’ve seen their fancy
snowmobiles outside. Donno how keen they’d be to take on an extra
person though.
Bishop takes the beer.
BISHOP
Thanks.
He takes a swig from the beer and stands up, heading over to the group of three men in the corner. They’re all in good spirits, laughing and drinking beer. Bishop stops in front of them.
BISHOP (CONT’D)
Heard you guys are heading south.
The laughing and fun demeanors of the men quickly fade and they turn to face Bishop.
SNOW MOBILE GUY #1
What’s it to you?
BISHOP
I’m looking for transport south. Got room for one more?
He takes another sip of his beer.
SNOW MOBILE GUY #2
Sorry, guy. Full up. We’ve only got enough resources for ourselves.
BISHOP
I’ve got my own gear. And supplies. All I need’s a ride.
The guys start to go from neutral to unfriendly.
SNOW MOBILE GUY #1
What part of full up didn’t you get, buddy?
BISHOP
We can take turns driving. You’ll be thankful you’ve got me.
SNOW MOBILE GUY #3
Why don’t you just get lost? Huh, chief?
Bishop sighs and turns away, heading back to the bar. The three guys shake their heads and go back to their previous routine.
CUT TO:
EXT. BEACH - DAY
SUBTITLE: Megumi - San Diego
The waves roll onto the beach. A few sunbathers and some kids splashing in the water. Suddenly, from amidst the waves, Megumi appears. Once the water is shallow enough, she stands and walks towards the beach, her clothes clinging to her wetly. The splashing kids stop and watch her pass by. She stops and looks over at them, trying to come up with an explanation.
MEGUMI YOSHINAGA
Rip tide.
She hurriedly runs up the beach, bare feet leaving marks in the sand.
CUT TO:
EXT. PHONE BOOTH - MOMENTS LATER
Megumi enters the phone booth, reaching into her pockets and pulling out some change. She picks the receiver up and puts it to her ear before depositing the change and dialing. She waits as the phone rings.
MEGUMI YOSHINAGA
Father?
MEGUMI’S FATHER (V.O.)
Megumi? Where are you?
She looks around, trying to find some kind of distinguishing landmarks.
MEGUMI YOSHINAGA
By the beach.
MEGUMI’S FATHER (V.O.)
Which beach?
MEGUMI YOSHINAGA
I’m not sure. There were men chasing me, Father. They had guns.
MEGUMI’S FATHER (V.O.)
I know all about it.
MEGUMI YOSHINAGA
You do? Who were they? What do they want?
MEGUMI’S FATHER (V.O.)
You shouldn’t have run from them.
MEGUMI YOSHINAGA
But they were trying to kill me!
MEGUMI’S FATHER (V.O.)
You need to tell me where you are, Megumi.
Megumi hangs up the phone, looking around nervously, before exiting the pay phone.
CUT TO:
INT. POLICE INTERROGATION ROOM #1 - DAY
Audrey is back in the room with Knight, not looking pleased.
AUDREY HANSON
What is it, Knight? What can you do?
JIMMY KNIGHT
Plenty of stuff. I’ve been trying to give you the grand tour,
but you keep shrugging me off.
Audrey slams the palm of her hand down onto the table, her eyes glaring at him.
AUDREY HANSON
Dammit, Knight!
The room goes dark.
JIMMY KNIGHT
Hey... what? Who turned out the lights?
Slowly, the light starts to flow back into the room. Audrey stands in front of Knight, her arms crossed at her chest.
AUDREY HANSON
Apparently, that’s what I can do. What can you do?
JIMMY KNIGHT
Let’s see... I can count to ten in Spanish, make a pretty good cheese steak,
get you off good enough to melt that icy heart of yours...
AUDREY HANSON
Roland says your special.
JIMMY KNIGHT
How’s that guy know I used to ride the short bus?
Audrey glares at him hard, the lights starting to dim again.
JIMMY KNIGHT (CONT’D)
Alright, the light thing was cool the first time, but I’m not afraid of the dark.
AUDREY HANSON
You shouldn’t be afraid of the dark. You should be afraid of what’s in it.
The lights went out, you tried to escape, I had no choice.
Knight looks at her uncertainly.
JIMMY KNIGHT
You wouldn’t...
AUDREY HANSON
Try me.
Knight sighs.
JIMMY KNIGHT
Alright, fine.
Just then, the door opens and the male detective enters.
MALE DETECTIVE
We gotta cut him loose.
Audrey spins around to face the detective, her eyes going wide with surprise.
AUDREY HANSON
What?!
MALE DETECTIVE
Arresting officer didn’t file the right paperwork when he brought him in.
It’s no good.
JIMMY KNIGHT
Don’t you just hate paperwork?
AUDREY HANSON
Oh, shut up.
The detective walks over to Knight, taking the keys to the cuffs out of his pocket. He unlocks them and Knight stands up, rubbing at his wrist. He walks over to the door, turning to face Audrey.
JIMMY KNIGHT
Just so you know, if I was doing something bad, you’re definitely
the person I’d want to bust me.
AUDREY HANSON
Just get the hell out of here, Knight.
Knight flashes her a grin and leaves.
CUT TO:
EXT. POLICE STATION - DAY
Knight and Roland exit the police station together.
ROLAND CORT
What happened in there?
JIMMY KNIGHT
Little bit of good luck. That’s all.
ROLAND CORT
Like the bar?
JIMMY KNIGHT
Nothing so glamorous.
They turn and start to walk down the sidewalk.
CUT TO:
EXT. SIDEWALK - CONTINUOUS
Knight and Roland continue to walk beside each other.
JIMMY KNIGHT
Hey, did you talk to Hanson?
ROLAND CORT
Was that the guy?
JIMMY KNIGHT
No, the chick. Blonde, bit high strung, cute as a button?
ROLAND CORT
Yea, I talked to her.
JIMMY KNIGHT
Then can I ask, what the hell did you tell her about me?
ROLAND CORT
Nothing.
JIMMY KNIGHT
You didn’t go off on your whole ‘special’ rant, did you?
ROLAND CORT
No... Well... yes, but let me explain.
They reach a crosswalk and Roland starts to go across.
JIMMY KNIGHT
Wait a minute, I gotta tie my shoe.
Knight bends down to tie his shoe. Roland turns back around and steps back onto the sidewalk, just as a speeding bus flies by where he was just standing, running the red light and nearly causing an accident. Roland turns and watches the bus and Knight looks up from his shoe.
JIMMY KNIGHT (CONT’D)
Close one.
Roland seems a whole lot more unnerved by the near miss.
ROLAND CORT
If you hadn’t stopped me, that bus would’ve creamed me.
Knight finishes with his shoe and stands up.
JIMMY KNIGHT
You can thank me by buying me a drink.
