Title: anti-Heroes - 1x01: Luck (Segment 1/4)
Author: steelcorpfilms
Fandom: Heroes
Characters/Pairings: Audrey, ensemble of OCs
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Adult language, some violence
Spoiler alert: Nothing really, but up through Godsend, just to be safe, and slighty AU.
Disclaimer: I do not own Heroes or Audrey Hanson. All the other characters are constructs of my imagination.

Summary: Taking place sometime between Godsend and Landslide. More people are discovering they have abnormal abilities. Audrey has been re-assigned to a new case after the Primatech Paper raid.

Author Note: This fic is written in screenplay format and is inteded to work as a 'spinoff' of Heroes. It's primarily made up of original characters, with the only main character transferred over from the show being Audrey. I do foresee a couple 'guest appearances' by other characters in later 'episodes'. Since the scripts work out to be about 40 pages long, I'm breaking them up into smaller segments. What follows would be the first segment before the title. Enjoy! And comments and reviews are always greatly appreciated.

INT. MCGINTY’S PUB - DAY

SUBTITLE: Jimmy Knight & Roland Cort - Los Angeles

A man in his mid-late twenties sits at the bar, sipping at a beer and smoking a cigarette. He has short, brown hair with a slightly receding hairline, stubble, and wears a black leather jacket. He’s JIMMY KNIGHT, thief.

The rest of the bar is filled with the usual dregs. Knight doesn’t seem to be paying much attention to them, mainly focusing on his beer. Entering the bar is another man. He’s dark-skinned, well built, dreadlocks and green eyes. He’s ROLAND CORT. He looks around the bar, searching, before stopping at Knight. After a moment, he walks over to him and motions to the empty bar stool next to him.

ROLAND CORT
This seat taken?

Knight looks over at Roland, a bit skeptical.

JIMMY KNIGHT
Nah. Take it.

Roland sits down and Knight goes back to his own thing. After ordering a beer for himself and taking a large drink from it, Roland sets it down and turns to Knight again.

ROLAND CORT
You’re special.

Knight looks over at Roland, slightly amused.

JIMMY KNIGHT
Sorry. You’re not my type.

ROLAND CORT
I don’t mean like that. You can... do things... right? You’ve got a gift?

Knight smirks.

JIMMY KNIGHT
Several. Course, that depends who you ask.

ROLAND CORT
I’m talking about something... not normal.

JIMMY KNIGHT
What’s normal, anyway?

Knight finishes his beer, stubs out his smoke and stands up from his stool, reaching for his wallet. He tosses some money down on the bar and puts his wallet away.

JIMMY KNIGHT (CONT’D)
Seems like you’ve had enough as it is, but there’s enough for another. I’ve got special business to take care of.

Knight turns and starts for the entrance. Roland turns to watch him go. Before Knight can leave, a YOUNG PUNK with a revolver bursts into the bar, waving the gun around.

YOUNG PUNK
Nobody better move less they wanna get a whole lotta lead in ‘em!

Knight is standing right in front of the punk and doesn’t seem the least bit surprised or threatened. The punk aims the gun right at him and takes a step forward.

YOUNG PUNK (CONT’D)
Back up!

Knight still doesn’t look phased at all.

JIMMY KNIGHT
No.

YOUNG PUNK
What?

JIMMY KNIGHT
I like this place. Nice atmosphere, good tunes on the jukebox, they serve tasty drinks. So I’m not gonna let some two-bit stick up man blow a buncha holes in it.

YOUNG PUNK
Man, I’ll blow you in half!

JIMMY KNIGHT
If you know what’s good for you, you’ll leave. Now.

The punk pulls the trigger on his gun.

It clicks.

The punk is surprised, but Knight is still as cool as ever. The punk pulls the trigger again.

Nothing.

As he pulls it again, Knight reaches up and yanks the gun away from him then punches him in the face, flooring him.

JIMMY KNIGHT (CONT’D)
Told you.

Knight kicks him in the ribs, then turns away, heading back for the bar. There’s a mild round of applause. Behind the bar, the BARTENDER picks up the phone to call the cops. Knight returns to his bar stool, tossing the gun down on the bar before sitting down. Roland turns to him again, amazed at what he’s seen.

ROLAND CORT
How’d you know it wasn’t loaded?

Knight leans over the bar and grabs a bottle of whiskey and a shot glass.

JIMMY KNIGHT
Check the cylinder.

He pours himself a shot. Roland carefully picks up the gun and opens it. The gun is fully loaded.

ROLAND CORT
I don’t understand.

Knight takes his shot.

JIMMY KNIGHT
That makes two of us.

Roland keeps looking at the bullets, mesmerized.

EXT. INDUSTRIAL AREA - DAY

SUBTITLE: Megumi Yoshinaga - San Diego

A Japanese woman, MEGUMI YOSHINAGA, runs through the industrial area. She has jawline-length dark brown hair and a slender figure. Chasing after her are two MEN IN BLACK SUITS. They’re carrying what look like semi-automatic pistols. Megumi ducks behind a large transport crate before they can fire. She moves between the large crates, coming to the other end and quickly turning and running along the back, then turning to run along another. There’s dozens of the loading crates, creating a maze. She darts along, moving in one direction, then another. Finally, she appears on the other side of the crates. Ahead of her is a loading dock. She runs for it.

Not far behind, the two armed men appear from the crates and pursue her. Reaching the end of the dock, Megumi comes to a halt, panting heavily.

MAN IN BLACK #1 (O.S.)
End of the line.

Megumi turns around to face them, looking nervous. The two men raise their guns and take aim at her. Megumi steps backwards, off the dock. She drops into the water before either man can shoot her. The two men rush forward and look down at the water. A minute or so later, Megumi’s shoes float to the surface. Other then that, the water is still.

Man in Black #1 pulls out a cell phone and dials a number.

MAN IN BLACK #1 (CONT’D)
We lost her.

He pauses, listening to a voice on the other end.

MAN IN BLACK #1 (CONT’D)
I’m sorry, sir. She was too fast.

Another pause.

MAN IN BLACK #1 (CONT’D)
I understand, sir. We’ll be there shortly.

Man in Black #1 hangs up and turns to his companion.

MAN IN BLACK #1 (CONT’D)
He has an idea who she’ll contact. He wants us to return to base.

MAN IN BLACK #2
How did he sound?

MiB1 gives MiB2 a look.

MAN IN BLACK #1
How do you think?

The two men turn and start walking back down the dock, concealing their weapons.

INT. FANCY RESTURAUNT - DAY

SUBTITLE: Jackson Hille - Seattle

JACKSON HILLE, a young guy with shaggy brown hair and a goatee sits at a table in a fancy resturaunt across from his girlfriend, LYDIA McMULLEN. She’s about the same age as Jackson, pretty, with long red hair, green eyes and freckles. A WAITRESS sets a pair of drinks down on their table before moving away.

LYDIA MCMULLEN
So what is it you’re saying exactly?

JACKSON HILLE
Here. I’ll show you.

He reaches over and touches a finger to her glass, which appears to be filled with soda. He stares at the liquid, concentrating hard and holding his breath. After a few moments, he releases his breath and takes his finger away from the glass.

JACKSON HILLE (CONT’D)
Taste it.

Lydia gives him a look, but picks up the glass and takes a sip. She almost immediately spits the contents back into the glass.

LYDIA MCMULLEN
Ew. Diet.

JACKSON HILLE
I did that.

Lydia sets the glass back down.

LYDIA MCMULLEN
C’mon, Jackson. It’s way more likely the waitress just screwed up the order.

Jackson sighs with frustration. After a moment, his eyes light up and the frustration fades.

JACKSON HILLE
Alright, I’ve got it. You remember that wine we had on our first date? You loved it but we’ve never been able to afford to get more?

LYDIA MCMULLEN
Yea?

Reaching across the table, Jackson touches her glass again. He closes his eyes, concentrating hard. Slowly, the brown-colored soda turns red. When the transformation is finished, he removes his finger and opens his eyes.

JACKSON HILLE
Now taste it.

Lydia picks it up and takes a test sip. Her eyes widen.

LYDIA MCMULLEN
How..?

JACKSON HILLE
No idea. It’s pretty sweet, though, right?

Lydia takes another sip of the wine.

LYDIA MCMULLEN
That’s amazing.

She sets the glass down and pushes it towards him.

LYDIA MCMULLEN (CONT’D)
Now do vodka and Red Bull. I could really go for that.

JACKSON HILLE
Geez, Lyds. Abuse the hell out of my power, why don’t you?

She pouts.

LYDIA MCMULLEN
Oh, come on!

Once again, Jackson reaches over and touches her glass. A few moments later, the red liquid becomes clear. Lydia picks it up and takes another sip.

LYDIA MCMULLEN (CONT’D)
You know, I think I just found even more love for you.

Jackson laughs.

JACKSON HILLE
Well, that’s good to know.

He picks up the menu.

JACKSON HILLE (CONT’D)
What do you wanna order?

Lydia picks up her menu and peruses it for a few moments before setting it down and looking over at Jackson, grinning.

LYDIA MCMULLEN
Hey, can you turn a grilled cheese into Chilean sea bass?

EXT. SNOW PLANE - DAY

SUBTITLE: Bishop - Somewhere in Alaska

Black army boots crunch through the white snow, along the wreckage of a sled team. The boots belong to BISHOP, who’s in his mid-late twenties and has long, dark brown hair. He’s wearing all black winter gear. He collects scattered supplies and gear that have been thrown from the wrecked sled.

Off to the side, the sound of pained groans is heard. Bishop casually adds any useful, unbroken items to his backpack.

WOUNDED SLED CAPTAIN (O.S.)
Please... I need help. I think my leg’s broken.

Bishop finishes packing the gear and slings the pack over his shoulder before rising to his feet. He walks over to the wounded sled captain, who has a gash across his forehead and his right leg is twisted into an extremely awkward position.

WOUNDED SLED CAPTAIN (CONT’D)
That rock came out of nowhere. It’s a miracle you aren’t hurt.

BISHOP
Something like that.

WOUNDED SLED CAPTAIN
You have to get my leg splinted so we can try to get back to town before nightfall.

BISHOP
Alright, lemme find something.

Bishop walks off, heading for a small patch of trees.

CUT TO:

EXT. PATCH OF TREES - MOMENTS LATER

Bishop walks through the trees, looking along the ground for sticks. He picks one up, long and narrow, but quickly tosses it back to the ground and reaches for another.

CUT TO:

EXT. SNOW PLANE - MOMENTS LATER

Bishop returns with a large, thick chunk of wood.

WOUNDED SLED CAPTAIN
That’s too big. Quit screwing around. We have to get back to town as soon as possible.

BISHOP
You’re not gonna make it back to town.

WOUNDED SLED CAPTAIN
What?

Bishop lifts the piece of wood over his head.

WOUNDED SLED CAPTAIN (CONT’D)
No! Don’t!

Bishop slams the wood down into the sled captain with a wet crunch.
