I’ve been so busy this week being a grown up, getting my website put together and spamming about my novel being out, that I’m in desperate need of some quality fandom time. The talk about Nathan being completely OOC in Season 3 was so awesome that I thought I’d find something else to get us all going.
Also don’t forget about the Drabble Tree. Let’s try to keep it going until the comm’s birthday at the end of the month. I think one of the things that frustrated Heroes fans the most was how inconsistent the writing was when Season 2 came around. The Writer’s Strike is what I think killed Heroes. It wasn’t Bryan Fuller leaving. It was the writer’s dropping all the plans they had for Season 2 when the strike happened. Imagine how different it all would have been if the storylines they dropped had kept going. There were so many why, what are you thinking of moments that started then.
One of the most frustrating things for me was what they did to Candice. When Candice could look like anyone, why the hell kill her off? So what if Missy got another job? Why not cast someone in her place for the long haul? I for one would have loved to see a story with Candice and Sylar teaming up and taking on the Company.
Candice was a villain through and through. If you read her graphic novel backstory, you found out what a conniving, mean bitch she was. Not as conniving as Angela of course, no one could replace La Petrelli for the biggest villain of all as far as I’m concerned. But Candice had so much potential. She had an incredible power, and she was a prime example of how power leads to corruption.
Sylar and Candice/Michelle would have been a vast improvement in storytelling over the Unwonderful Twins that’s for sure. I have never liked Maya and Alejandro, and if the writers wanted those characters brought into the series, couldn’t they have found another way? Candice and Sylar’s misadventures would have rocked.
And of course I do have to thank Candice for giving me my favorite Heroes kink Sylar/Sylar.
In Five Years Gone, Sylar says he owed his ability to pretend to be Nathan to Candice. While it’s a nice thought there is no way that Candice’s illusions would have worked on cameras. You cannot create an illusion that effects machines. Yet another example of a Heroes plot hole. It doesn’t work.
As the President Sylar would have been in the public eye constantly, and let’s not forget that the man needed to sleep from time to time. Whatever did the First Lady think waking up next to Sylar instead of Nathan? See what I mean? In 5YG, Sylar has to had shapeshifting.
Although having Candice as his First Lady is a lovely thought. But she still couldn’t control what TV cameras picked up…
