A monthly update

It's been about a month, but some things have happened.

About a week after my birthday, my Real Analysis group went drinking at a friends apartment. Instead of getting really down with my drinking self, I just had 2 coronas and a jaegerbomb. The jaegermeister tasted like cough syrup, and you know how much I hate cough syrup.

Then I went to my church convention in Birmin'ham, which was AWESOME! I saw people I haven't seen in a year and it was great. I got back with my old friends and we just had a great time. We learned about the culture clash of the arab-american church, our church's history, how to be a good "spritual athlete", and how to be fool for Christ. I also had a lot of fun, staying up till 2 AM! (well, one night, i stayed up that long; as the rest of the nights were either 1:30 or 11:30). It helped me deepened my relationship with God and I think I will be a better Christian from now on because of it.

Currently, it's just me and my dad right now. Jameel stayed for the entire convention. I'm starting to improve the relationship with me and my dad as sometimes we get frustrated of each other. However, I'm also not down in alabama with all of my friends, and I won't see them again until January.

Now back to politics. Israel invading Lebanon; Fadi, my mom, and my sister are safely in Damascus for the time being; Hezbollah.

Fadi, my mom, and Miriam were in Jounieh when the attacks started and they got out of Lebanon via a taxi. Fadi commented that the amount they took was the same amount as a plane trip to New York. As I said, they are safely in Damascus, until their plane leaves next Thursday.

One of my friends put this on her facebook "current status": Jaclyn is wondering why Israel is invading Lebanon.

That's a good pondering Jaclyn.

The answer is: No one really knows as the action itself is WAY out of line with the current sitution.

Current sitution: Hezbollah kidnapped a couple of Israeli soldiers. When Hezbollah didn't give them back, then Israel decided to attack. Hezbollah didn't give in and started firing rockets toward Northern Israel. Israel then attacked back. Hezbollah did more attacking...etc...Israel then started invading Lebanon.

Who's really at fault is this? Both parties of course! Who is the US blaming? Hezbollah or any other group that is against Israel. Honestly, if Israel started attacking Germany in a sense of "it's payback time" for WWII, Bush would probably say that they had a good cause for starting a war.

Hezbollah should NOT have kidnapped the Israeli soldiers. It doesn't do anything and it makes Israel madder than she already is. And Israel can do hefty damage when she is mad.

Israel, on the other hand, shouldn't have an apartheid-ish environment with Palestine, the West Bank, the Gaza Strip. They need to understand that it was called Palestine first and Israel was the name of Jacob (and thus, the name of the PEOPLE), not the name of the land. They used to live peacefully before 1945-1948. Hmmmm...what happened then...oh yes...WWII and the renaming of the land from Palestine to Israel without any consideration for the Palestinians...

Peace is the best approach to this because people need to understand that hurting people to get what you want will not ultimatley work as there are others who have powerful allies and kick your butt from here to the moon!

Plus, if the world starts going nuts, then it will be WWIII and possibly the end of the world.

Pray for peace, even those who don't believe. God be with y'all.
