I just saw "Planet of the Apes" and when I saw the last scene (the famous one), I was like "That's it?" Yes, I did expect more cause everyone knew of that scene.
However, the movie itself was very good and I enjoyed it. There was a lot of action and understanding. This is a great movie to explore the age old question of science versus religion. And when I say "great movie to..." I mean that it's the main theme behind the whole movie. Did man evolve into Apes after many years?
I also saw the original "The Manchurian Candidate" (1962) and that was VERY good. I liked it a lot and much different than the one that was out two years ago with Denzel Washington and Merryl Streep. I liked it better than the remake.
Now, after seeing The "Planet of the Apes", this reminds me of few things: All of them have to do with the Simpsons, of course. A few quotes:
1) "Don't trust anyone over 30"- said by Charlton Heston and said again by Homer Simpson when he toured with Hallobalooza (spelling?).
2) "Damn you! Damn you all to Hell!"- said by Charlton Heston (as he was on his knees in the sand) and said again by Homer Simpson when he was being interviewed by the press for going into space ("The only place I hope they don't send us to is that awful planet of the apes (starts thinking)...Statue of Liberty...wait a minute, that was OUR planet! *gets down on the floor* DAMN YOU! DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL! (starts crying)"
3) And of course, who could forget, "The Planet of the Apes, I Want to Get Off" musical starring Troy McClure?
