2 nights in a row of sitting on lawns
watching something somewhat glamorous.

number one: last night [[no photos from this one...unfortunately]]
movie in bryant park!
in order to get the very good seats i went to the park when the lawn opened at 5pm.
the film didn't even start until after sunset so that made it a bit of a wait
i enjoyed it
the sun was shaded by a skyscraper on one side of the park.
i felt like i could have been in paris....at least from what my mother tells me about it
small tables and chairs scattered around the perimeter of the giant lawn
couples playing chess
sycamore trees everywhere
before 5pm there were at least a hundred people lining up around the perimeter of the lawn
blankets open
and the minute it turned 5, everyone ran into the middle of lawn to get the best seat possible!
like a race to the finish
i simply sat and wound a ball of yarn, knit some roses, made friends with my neighbors, until ess arrived at around 6.
he is a great literary type and loves talking about his books, those he reads and those he has prospects for writing himself.
and to my surprise and glee, eff did decide to come see the show.
[[these two i work with at Communitea]]

movie: M.A.S.H.
what a seriously hilarious film.

number two: tonight [[photos!!]]
FIREWORKS!
with lower manhattan as a backdrop.
spent on the brooklyn bridge park lawn, north of the brooklyn bridge and underneath the manhattan bridge.
and ahhhh, with my lovely cousins...joy!
my lovely cousins [[cousin and wife]] who live in the city.
the sunset was bright pink and the fireworks were right above the bridge
a bit anti-climactic....since the humidity seemed to freeze a giant black cloud right in front of the explosions.
hundreds of people there to watch
i felt very much a part of humanity

the manhattan bridge at night
Nathan gave me a bit of trivia about this bridge and the brooklyn bridge tonight
i like learning about this city
this is a pretty 'touristy' shot too....

red fire
new york city shot off works in 3 different places
this one
i could barely see the display up the river by 34th street
and the other was on the hudson river...other side of manhattan

it turned out to be a beautiful night.
