tarot thing spinoff, part two

Esther had just turned five when her aunt Cindy got married; she found out several years later that it was her grandmother's idea for her to be the flower girl, partly because she was young and cute enough for it and partly in an effort to keep Aunt Cindy and her mother talking.

It didn't exactly work, but that's another story.

Going from Connecticut to Buffalo qualified as an Adventure, only mildly dampened by the fact that she had to dress up and stand still for a long time out the other end of it. It really didn't surprise her to find out later she tried to make a run for it with Aunt Cindy's flowers, at the end of the ceremony - an hour is a long time to ask a little girl to hold still.

It'd be somewhat less embarrassing if it weren't on film, is all. John was lucky he was still too little to really do anything of note, she'll say that for her brother.

Esther spent a lot of time at the reception hanging around her uncle Mark and his friend Angel (they were still in high school at the time, but not by much). Her mother liked both of them, as far as she could tell, and they were really nice, so it worked out all right for everyone.

It's not the meeting that really sticks out in her mind, other than seeing Mark's film a few times. But it's still about the first time she met two of the most important people in her life, so it's got to count for something.
