Recent stuff and...Wow, I didn't know my mind could go there.

I must get this out of the way:  I wrote Captain John Hart/the Joker porn for 10_quotes .  It is probably the dirtiest and most twisted thing I've ever written, and I'm pretty darn satisfied with it.  So, um, yeah.  I think I feel like a better class of criminal or something.

I'm on break from school for a month now, so there'll probably be more of that.

My thoughts on a Boggle game with skeevy words, that extra branch of the government, hips, and a book series I've reread more times than is healthy. )

Well, Robin did become her lover, so I guess it sort of worked out.

I used to think she was just a stupid person, too, until I read the book. I just realized that you can sum up and explain Marie Antoinette's situation like, "Take your average eighth grader, marry her off to a high school sophomore she's never met, and tell her to wait for her (grand)father-in-law to die so they can rule a country. And while she's waiting, she can buy as much stuff and gamble as much money as she wants." What teenager wouldn't get caught up in that?

But like you said, there's some pretty deep stuff going on in those books. Especially in Marie Antoinette, a lot of the class issues (I also remember a moment where she wonders if she really knows anyone who's truly handsome, and decides that some stableboy she's seen around can't be, because he's lower class) that would later be, you know, their downfall.
Yes! That part always stood out to me. Those books had some eerie foreshadowing, like when Elizabeth I keeps saying that she'll never be queen, and that living under Mary's potential rule would scare her. Anastasia's mentions of her mother reliance on "Father Grigory" (Rasputin) are pretty darn terrifying.

With the issues, two of the later books, Sondok (a Korean queen) and King Kristina of Sweden dealt almost entirely with gender issues---trying to be a male heir when they're also expected to be female. Mary, Queen of Scots dealt with pedophilia/ephobophilia (she and her ladies were about 11, so I don't know which it was). Yeesh.

Oh, poor, poor Wash. I'd watched all the episodes in a week and then watched the movie, and when...that happened, I got really angry and realized how attached to the characters I'd gotten. When you say "Firefly!Plaude" do you mean Peter and Claude visit Serenity or Claude is in Mal's role and Peter is in Simon's? Either way, it sounds fun!

*laughs* Still. I was still at the Marriage and Babies = Happy ending! stage of my life. I...had a weird mix of maturity levels.

Yeah, pretty much. For however much people made fun of it, the Sophia Coppola move did a really good job of showing that side of her life, too.

Oh, god, Rasputin was so damn creepy, even in those books. Creepy, creepy person, that guy.

I feel like I may have read the Kristina one but I can't remember a thing about it. I remember the cover, at least. But those were some damn good books, I really like the one about Isabel of Castile as well; she came off pretty awesome, in between all the political machinations going on around her, while still balanced by all the no-holds-bared "Jews and Muslims are evil!" stuff going on in the background, because that's the way things were.

I knew about the Wash thing before I even watched the series (fandom osmosis, the ultimate spoiler) but I was still crushed. He and Zoe were just so right together, to see Zoe have to go on without him just hurt. Mostly because I adore Zoe and want her to have all the happiness in thew orld.

As for the Firefly!Plaude it's kind of a mix of both. I posted this more than a year ago, as kind of a venture into that universe (mostly for the porn, I won't lie), I explained the potential plot to lotus0kid here, and have considered going back to it a couple of times, but at the moment I kind of feel like doing it again, so. It may get done.

Also oh my god I love you for getting that Claude would be in Mal's role and Peter in Simon's. Because that's how I always saw it :D It wouldn't quite be that kind of fusion fic, though. But if it were...totally.
