I KNEW Russell T. Davies watched SPN!!!
Because "Countrycide" and "Something Borrowed" just felt too SPN-ish for me to shrug the feeling off (and SPN started a whole year before Torchwood). Here's a quote from him about Ianto's death from this fandom_wank post:

I don't even 'ship Wincest (I'm more of a Dean/Castiel girl, but I'm also a multishipper and I wouldn't be surprised if I end up 'shipping Castiel/Crowley or Castiel/Lucifer by the end of the season), but one of the commenters said they think he writes fanficiton, and I heartily agree. He probably slashes everyone.
