...They WOULD call it Defiance now.

So I was reading this TWOP article about SyFy's upfront for this year, and their centerpiece is show called Defiance, which is about humans and aliens running around in post-apocalyptic St. Louis.  They embedded a Hulu video of the first 14 minutes, and it looks like it will be mainly CGI St. Louis (now called Defiance because of reasons), but I hope they manage to Google-image the real STL and include some of the following things:

- Refugees living in any of the following places:
Busch Stadium (complete with small children climbing on the Stan The Man statue)
Edward Jones Dome (sleeping bags lined up on the 50-yardline)
America's Center (if this place can handle Wizard Con, it can handle anything; also, it's connected to the Edward Jones Dome)
Powell Hall (all those levels would make it like an indoor jungle with perfect acoustics)
Fox Theatre (see Powell Hall; also, it's so ornate that it's almost gaudy and that would look so awesome in a post-apocalyptic world)

- Lots of alien fish, reptiles, amphibians, and water mammals inhabiting the Mississippi River and/or the Missouri River.  Maybe the river's convergence point would be some sort of mystical portal.

- People living off of Imo's and Ted Drewes's Frozen Custard.  Toasted Ravioli becomes a delicacy.

- Tribes of people and/or aliens being divided into tribes based on sports teams.

- All the citizens of Defiance treating the Gateway Arch as sacred because it just refuses to fall over.

- The Muny (the U. S.'s largest outdoor theater) becoming a place of worship.

None of this stuff will happen, but it's fun to dream about.  I think they chose St. Louis because they just need that ONE THING to stay standing in the skyline to make the city instantly recognizable.  That would be much harder to do with New York or L.A. or Chicago, which are defined by clusters of skyscrapers.  Still, I'm all for St. Louis in any media.  *dances*
