RAVENS!!!!!
THE RAVENS WON! All my congratulations to them and to all the Marylanders on my flist! I was rooting for them because:
1. Baltimore has a love affair with football very much akin to my city's love affair with baseball, so of course I can get behind that.
2. Baltimore got royally screwed in the 1980s when they lost their team to a supervillain owner who moved the Colts to Indianapolis in the middle of the night. What a coward. And then a ridiculously callous football commissioner refused to give them a team in the second expansion, so they had to resort to a CFL team to get their football fix. WTF.
3. The Baltimore Ravens have their own marching band! They were originally the Baltimore Colts Band, and they kept playing for various parades and charity events while the city didn't have a team, and their existence helped keep the yearning for football alive. If you have Netflix, you should look up and stream the ESPN documentary The Band That Wouldn't Die, which is all about their struggle to keep things going. It will make you cry.
