Another New Year's Eve. But unlike the other years, I'm actually looking forward to 2013 (though I'm nostalgic for 2012, too). Maybe this is because I made progress and lots of things happened this year. A brief list:
Best Educational Moment: Walking up on stage and getting my B. A. in English.
Best Career Moments: Finishing my internship and getting not one but two jobs this year. Yes, they were minimum-wage retail jobs, but it took me until age 22 to land just one, so I'm really grateful for that.
Most Unexpected Achievement: Winning a short story contest in my last semester at school. I submitted a rough draft, which you're not supposed to do, but I did it for the experience. And then won money. Talk about exceptions to rules. O.o
Best Musical Moment: Getting my chops back and playing my trombone with the local community college's band and with the St. Louis Low Brass Collective's Low Brass Choir a couple of weeks before Christmas.
Best Work Moment: When I met that adorable little child dressed as Thor.
Craziest Work Moment: When that lady barged around the plus-size department at Kohl's, shouting to everyone that they were being ripped off because she didn't know how early bird prices worked.
Best Gift: My grandma's Honda. Thank you for vouching for me, Aunt Sophie! The brakes and accelator respond so quickly that I think I prefer foreign cars now.
Best Sports Moment: he Cardinals' insane comeback against the Nationals. Pete Kozma > Bryce Harper. It's not a personal achievement, but it's worth mentioning. Okay, it did make me jump around like a loon at work.
All in all, 2012 was a pretty good year.
Happy New Year, Everybody!
