Okay, I discovered Firefly last Sunday and it's wonderful. I love Jayne. He's badass, yet adorable, like in Episode 12 ("The Message") when he gets that package from his mother, reads it aloud (and you realize he's not really stupid, just uneducated), and puts on that wonderfully goofy cap his mother knitted for him. How did this show get cancelled? It's odd, but I don't remember Serenity coming out in theaters; then again, I think I was in the throes of my Lord of the Rings/Harry Potter obsession, so I probably just didn't notice.
Anyway, I've yet to find any Mal/Jayne slash, which confounds me because they're both really hot and they have tension onscreen; granted, their tension wasn't really sexual, but I'm sure you could find some subtext in that scene in Episode 6 ("Our Mrs. Reynolds") when Jayne offers Mal his favorite gun, Vera, for in exchange for Saffron. And in all of the Supernatural/Firefly crossovers I've found, I haven't found any Dean/Jayne, Dean/Mal, Dean/Kaylee, or Dean/Inara, all of which would be interesting pairings. Mostly, I've found Sam/River, except for one Dean/River fic (which was quite good) and one Sam/Inara fic (I only read the summary, though). Come on, let's have some variety, people!
Also, could we have some Supernatural/Dark Knight Dean/Batman fic? That'd be awesome. Angst galore. I actually found a SPN/TDK Batman/Tamara fic that was great, but other than that, there's nothing. And I have too many unfinished fics as it is...
I'm watching the Olympic all-around girls' gymnastics competition, and the American girls' scores are totally getting screwed by the judges. Their performances are beautiful and almost flawless, yet they get lower scores than the Chinese girls, who make more mistakes. Something stinks...But Nastia Lukin got gold and Shawn Johnson got silver anyway. A Chinese gymnast got bronze, though.
I went to church today and the recessional hymn was "Hail, Holy Queen," the hymn that gets jazzed up in Sister Act. I've sung the song in church before, but I first heard it in Sister Act, so I was desperately trying to stifle my laughter and resist the urge to clap, but it was hard!
Also, on Sunday, Christian Bale found his way into my family's dinner conversation again. Weird. What would Freud say about that?
