It was well into the night after the dreadful day Hermione had endured when an owl appeared at her window. She had been expecting it.
She ran the page passively, her head pounding, and then hastily formed a reply, sending it off with the patient owl.
Tonks,
Thank you for your support. Please do not worry about me - after an ordeal like I've gone through today with a certain potion I was forced to take for Potions, I can't be upset or scared or anything, I just have a headache. I promise I will be careful always and not put myself into direct danger.
You're doing the right thing. I can tell you're worrying about it and I'm asking you not to. I can handle myself - I'm sure you know this.
Hermione
P.S. I think Dumbledore knows. He gave me a look yesterday. Please don't worry, his eyes were still sparkly.
Harry sat on his bed and finally opened Hermione's note. His eyes skimmed over the words quickly, and than he had to re-read it again.
Bollucks, he thought and than scratched his head. Why hadn't he been paying attention to the directions? Or in fact, why hadn't he got Hermione's note before taking the potion.
He suddenly felt really dizzy (though he figured it was because she had him all panicked now) and turned her note over and started to scribble on it.
Hermione,
What do you mean three more spider legs? I don't remember seeing that on the ingredients. Anyways. I took the potion atleast an hour ago and I feel fine.
I want to kill professor Snape more than ever but i'm sure everything is fine.
Thanks for the heads up, but as I said, I'm fine.
Harry
He felt too tired and thought if that if he went up stairs and took a nap the tingling feeling would go away. His head was pounding and he left the note out for her to find in the common room whenever she came in.
He walked up to the dormitories and curled himself into bed.
