Good Morning! It's 8.15

Dec 05, 2020 09:04

The only things I did this morning (I got up 45 minutes ago, at 7.30 which means I actually slept reallllly long) was drinking coffee (very important), playing Candy Crush Friends (also very important), and running the dish washer (a bit important, but I was running out of clean plates and I don't like eating off the table :DDD).

I feel very accomplished since I finally tackled the task of writing Christmas cards yesterday night. I wrote 27 cards and am still not finished - I need to buy more cards! So if you are not on my list, send me your address, I don't mind sending a couple of cards more.

You know why I'm proud of writing cards late? Beause last year, I didn't write any! And I'm still sorry about it :(

Just a sec, I need another cup of coffee

All right, where was I?

Oh yes, Corona!

Wednesday last week, I got an email from school that all kids in K's grade that go to after school care were to quarantine immediately: one of the teachers tested positive for Covid.

(German after school care, OGS, is from end of lessons until up to 5pm. The kids get lunch, do their homework and play. They also have project groups, like learning the flute or guitar, or drawing lessons, or cooking. Unfortunately, this year, there were only little possibilities due to Corona. Spots in OGS are in great demand by working parents since lessons in primary school end before noon. K loves going to OGS.)

25 kids had to stay home immediately until 8 December. Even with a negative test, they would have to quarantine until 8 December *headdesk* My employer send me home until I could show a negative test; I called the pulblic health department for testing my kid and they said they'd send someone as K was Category 1 (direct contact with a positive person) and we don't have a car. So last Saturday afternoon, a nice man without a yellow hazmat suit (seriously, I was hoping Dustin Hoffman Outbreak clothing, but he just wore scrubs and PPE) came to test K and of course it came back negative before midnight that same day.

Then the headmistress was fighting with the public health department about quarantining a whole class when they all wore their masks and keeping their distance, and she, indeed, achieved having the quarantine revoked when the kids where tested negative. So they had the kids tested in school on Monday, got the negative tests back during the night and everybody was allowed back to school on Tuesday!

So always wear your mask and keep your distance, it works!
