I don't listen to commercial radio all that often; I'm pretty much a public radio man.
But the other day, I tuned into the middle of a song on a commercial station. I needed about fifteen seconds of it to know that I loved it and wanted to buy the album, based on the strength of one song by a band I'd never heard before.
I didn't crash my car as I fumbled around with my phone to tag the song using Shazam and find out who it was by, but it might have been wiser to have waited for the DJ to identify it. But it just frigging rocked, you know?
Actually, that happens to me a lot, now that I think about it.
The song was "Little Lion Man" by Mumford & Sons, off their debut album, Sigh No More.
When I mentioned this to a friend of mine, she asked, "How'd you miss them until now?" and I had to be sheepish and mumble, "Um... NPR?" (and never mind that NPR has been my tip-off for a LOT of really great music).
So... in case the rest of you don't know, and are in the mood for Brit-folk-inflected rock, I recommend Mumford & Sons.
