I signed the lease on the studio flat on 18th and Church yesterday.

Then rorrah helped me figure out how my furniture could be made to work in the space. It should all fit, but I'll have to make my bed daily... there's just no escaping it. (sigh)

On the plus side, I should be able to fit in a small sofa or loveseat, so I'll have a space that functions as a living room, in addition to my bed and a library nook and the kitchen.

This is my inspiration. Mind, I'm neither that talented nor that motivated, but I still want this to be a really nice place for me to live. If all goes to plan, I'll be leaving it in May/June 2011, but I'm looking at this as a trial-run for setting up a real home. (I hope to find a great apartment in Portland and not move at all during my time there.)

So, I'm going to invest in some things--like that loveseat, and a new kitchen table. I'm looking for vintage mid-century pieces, because that's how I roll, but we'll see. I figure that if I have to spend the money, I should get something that will make me happy and be worth the cost.

No particleboard!

I need drapes, and flatware, and a new toaster oven. The place has picture rails and a decided lack of holes in the walls, so I've ordered a bunch of rail hooks. I have art and pictures I want to display, after all. A coffee table would be nice, and I need a new non-stick pan for eggs and whatnot. I love my cast iron, but making crepes in it isn't fun.

I should get a new hamper, and a bed linens. I got a new mattress a while back, and the pockets aren't deep enough on most of my fitted sheets now.

A mop. Chairs if I find a good table that doesn't come with its own set. Magnetic poetry for the fridge.

More plants.

If you have any ideas, I'd love to hear them.
