a rather big BUMP!!!

Or perhaps A smack upside the head. Lets just say, it started in a more controllable way, a root canal. Not exactly pleasant, not fun, but with the time delays that happen with it, its manageable. I am almost done, and by the time its over, it will cost me close to $2000.

Thursday, the screen of my laptop died. The rest of my computer was fine. Just the monitor. In the middle of the work day, but close to the end of the weekend. Okay. $400 dollars later, I can write this entry with the new screen. Not great, and certainly a challenge, but I was able to rise up to meet it.

Sunday afternoon. I was in West Hollywood, going to a social outing. Right as I am parking my car, I hear this *chunk* and my power steering dies. I mean, dead. I knew that it was bad, but I figured, hey, I got time, I am where I want to be, I will hope that maybe thats not so bad. That was just wishful thinking. I came back 3 hours later, and I look at my car and the serpentine belt which connects many things together was off. Broken. I wonder if I could get it back on, but no such luck. I am an hour from my house, and where I would prefer to get mechanics to work on it, and so I am basically screwed. I call AAA, and for myself, it would cost $300 dollars to get it towed down there. I called my parents, and my dad recommended that I get it fixed up there, and crash with some friends. I could do that, but that means missing a day of work, and leaving my car far away, and not easy to get to. mmm yeah. So, I took a chance and called my friend and HP Roger. Fortunately, he had this super AAA coverage and which I found out by asking, and since he was still in WeHo (as he was at the thing I went to) he came over and called them up and got me a tow truck. OH THANK THE GODDESS. He sat with me while I waited for the tow, and we talked, and I felt better just by his presence. Well, AAA called us, and it turned out because of the unusual nature of the holiday (or something) that they wouldn't be able to tow it to Huntington Beach until midnight!!! or they could tow it to thier service yard, and then on Monday, tow it to Huntington Beach. We opted for the second, and Roger gave me a ride home. I was so thankful for that. It was really great. I was very, very, very thankful for Roger being able to help me.
The car got the Huntington Beach this morning, and it got repaired and it turned out that the tightener (a thing that keeps the belt tight) had not been tightened sufficiently, and so it had come loose, and then started breaking the bolts off, until finally it broke off completely, loosened the belt and broke it. So yeah. Great! wooo. Then it turned out the distributor seal was broken, and was leaking oil out. But yet, I have not seen oil dripping where I park my car, but I think it was leaking when the car was on, while I was driving. OY!
It totally feels like the world is either trying to tell me something, or prepare me for something. So, I dunno. I wish I could get messages in a nicer way. Or a cheaper one. Please.
