i left my camera at home for the weekend (on accident) so i'm relying on my friends to send me pictures, which they haven't done yet. i had an absolutely awesome weekend. for a quick rundown (minus monday, when connie went home and the rest of us went to toledo), see connie's blurb here

and some of the highlights she didn't mention:
  1. natalie portman had coffee with us in madrid for my birthday! ok, to be fair, she was already in madrid, she didn't come just for my birthday. and technically, we didn't have coffee. actually, we didn't really meet, like, face to face. but honestly, she was at the reina sofia museum of art on december 3rd, and so were roxane, abby, connie and i. and we saw her. (really. we even checked imdb.com later to double check that she cut her hair short.)

  2. laughing my ass off with abby at some of the "art" in reina sofia (we both agree that anyone can draw an arrow on a canvas and call it a flying bird).

  3. for lunch on the 3rd, we had a picnic in the botanical gardens... at least 3 types of sandwiches, some fruit, horchata, etc.

  4. throughout the weekend, i met people from all over the world: US, spain (por supuesto), brazil, peru, costa rica, germany, italy, greece, england, france.

  5. finally being able to check out ppl at the club (this weekend was the first time since barcelona i've been to a queer/dyke club)

  6. seeing the christmas lights up all around town. fucking gorgeous.

  7. cooking a delicious homemade meal for the first time in 3 months. we went italian: pasta with olives and sauce, french bread, and a salad that (also for the first time in 3 months) wasn't soaked in salt water and olive oil.

  8. talking to ali during my birth-minute and, later, her birth-minute, pacific standard time and spain time.

  9. falafels! we were gonna go to a vegetarian restaurant (my choice, i've been eating a shitload of pig lately and i wanted a change), but the wait was long so we spent half an hr hunting down a falafel place. good stuff.

  10. seeing the museo del prado (prado museum), which has paintings by artists we've studied in art class... that was kind of cool, to see them in person.

also: i sent out 5 emails to people with room listings on craigslist. wish me luck!
