while i cannot speak personally to it, a friend uses it and loves it. she got knocked up on both the pill and the shot and had been childfree for four years on her IUD. I do believe her current is Mirena.
they haven't found anything i don't bleed through yet, but that's because i'm broken.
my gyno recommended mirena to me (because i'm a weird estrogen machine and also have them comically heavy periods & anemia), so i did some research. from what i have read, it is not such a good idea if you have not had any babies. also, it increases the chance of minor STDs becoming pelvic inflammatory disease, which is a major issue if you are still adventuring. it might be worth it anyway, but all that talked me out of it. regarding the pill (i take yazz), i take it at 11:00 at night or when i go to sleep (which is usually within a few-hour range), & i carry it everywhere with me. nighttime works way better for me, remembering-wise, than daytime.
Honestly, despite my big mouth I don't have all that much sex. I usually am just boning down with one dude as a time, whether as part of a relationship or a friends-who-do-it thing. And these days I require that the dudes I bone down with use protection, which makes me not worry so much about the PID thing.
I do worry a little about the not having had kids factor. I know that's an issue as far as insertion goes and I've already been told that my lady parts are pretty tiny (it's kind of fun hearing "wow! you have a teeny little uterus!" in the middle of a pelvic exam). I guess the only way I'll know for sure is to have someone actually look at my crotchal area.
Nuvaring. Once a month. Lighter periods. You jam it up there and forget about it. I haven't been faced with accidental crotchfruit while on it yet, and I've used it for about 2 1/2 years.
