How do Sexton fans deal with Sexton molesting her daughter? Does if affect how you read her? Or does her poetry obscure this knowledge?

Her strangeness, 'fucked-upedness', madness, etc is sort of the reason i was drawn to her in the first place.

To be honest I did not know this until I read it here.

Kinda puts you in a situation where although her psyche is so very interesting, and her poetry is truly amazing, it's more like 'but she did this. and although it is fitting in with her...her-ness, it's something that just isn't right'

I think in many respects artists get excused for behaviours that the rest of us wouldnt. I think their art does eclipse/transsend their personhood.
