TOM PETTY CONCERT 06/15/05

Jun 15, 2005 01:08

Hi guys.
I JUST GOT BACK FROM THE BEST CONCERT EVER!!!!!!

My dad and left to see TOM'FREAKING'PETTY at 6:30 stoped at UDF, you know how it goes. Around 7:00 we were really close to Rivebend, but crazziness was all around, thus, there was a trafic jam.
There were
•4 people peeing on ths side of the road
•1 girl changing her pants
•3 people already arrested for driving drunk.
teehee.

We got there at about 7:15 we were in our parking spot, and ate dinner, sandwhiches, chips, and pop.
=)
We're so American.

The opening act The Black Crowes had started at like... 7:00, we cared enough to roll down the windows and listen, but not enough to get over there.
When we were done, they were still playing but had like...2 songs left. We sat on a hill, on a blanket, in front of weird college kids.

During their last song I was so bored, so I took 40 dollars and walked across the entire damn place, and down some stairs, to find the merchandise. This took about a half an hour.
Riverbend, is mother fucking huge.
Riverbend, is mother fucking impossible. When everyone is drunk.
That's why it took so long.

So I got a tour shirt, and came back to our spot, which took a half an hour. The Black Crowes were off, and Sir Tommy was THISCLOSE to coming on.
The crowd was getting crazier.
After much antisipation, god Tom walked onto stage. I almost went deaf, kind of.

He played a lot of good songs, but I totally forget the setlist. But I know he played 'Free falling' third, because the sun was going down, and everyone had their lighters out.
He played a few upbeat songs. And then another slow one.
Everyone and their mom got out their lighters.
Twas awesome.

People started throwing shoes and hats during this one totally rock&rolly song. Then they got the beach balls, which lasted the entire show.
Then they started the glow sticks which ended because some on stepped on it.

During some song I didn't really like, I went to buy a coke at the counter. In the line which was long, I met a older guy named Brian, and he looked just like the bald guy from Smallville.
We talked about how this generation sucked, and how we were both born listening to great artists in rock&roll. Me (The Beatles) him (Led Zeppelin).

I went back and drank my coke. And rocked out. People were really drunk then, and started throwing beer all over the place. And ice cubes.
I got offered a joint. 6 times. By the same guy.
He was gnarly though.

Then people started mudslidding. I got mudd on my face, my dad got kicked. Sweeeeeeeeet.
It was over really fast, but Tom did 3 encores.
We left during the second one.
And while we were walking to the car, I could here the 3rd one.
MOTHER FREAKING AMERICAN GIRL.
I almost cried.

I ran to the nearest field and danced, and sang. Like a moron. But it felt good.
From far away, Tommy P. still puts on an amazing show.

Then we got in the car at EXACTLY 11:00 and got into the worlds biggest parking jam, because some drunk fool got in an accident right outside the exit.
We were there for 1 hour, and 20 minutes. During this time we had rock&roll battles between the cars.
Where we played awesome rock&roll songs, really loud, at one time.
I heard Tom Petty (FO FIGURE), The Beatles, The Stones, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Jimmi Hendrix, and I... played Hanson.
I don't care.
I totally won.

After a half an hour, everyone was getting pissed. The people behind us resolved that in having sex. Others stood on their cars, being drunk, and singing Free Falling very loud.
Some person cut infront of another persons car, and the people who got cut, played 'GET BACK' or whatever the hell it's called by The Beatles.

A fight arose. It was awesome. I watched.
A lot of people also sat in lawn chairs outside of their cars.

FINALLY, we got out, and me and my dad went to a gas station, where crazy black people smoked pot, and we drove away with the gas pump still in our car.
But that's for another day.

To conclude:
•I smell like pot, beer, and grass.
•I saw the drunkest people in all of my life.
•TOM PETTY IS THE GREATEST PERFORMER TO EVER WALK THIS PLANET.
