Weekend post

I'm writing the weekend post before the Oregon post, because this won't take as long. But I promise the Oregon post is coming.

Friday was a decent day at work. It was fairly chill and not too crazy. I got a random call from someone up at corporate who needed a script written for a show, and they wanted to know if I could do it. When I asked how much it paid, they told me to give them a price. After stuttering for a minute or so, I finally came up with $150, since I'd have to come in on the weekend to do it. Couple hours later, they approved that price. I was astonished, and way excited because I can use the extra cash.

Friday night I called Jed and we went to see "Serenity." It was awesome again, of course. Though I was a little annoyed in the beginning, though it wasn't really anyone's fault. Jed wanted popcorn and I wanted a drink, so I told him to get seats and I'd get the stuff. I knew the opening 10 minutes was important to those who hadn't seen the movie, and I'd already seen it so I didn't want him to miss it. I get the stuff, go into the theater and start looking for him.

I'm expecting him to raise a hand or make his location known, but I can't find him anywhere. I went back and forth and up and down like 4 or 5 times. Finally he called, and it turns out he was in the wrong theater. So he came into the right one and we got seats. I was annoyed partly because I was wandering in the dark for 10 minutes, and partly because he missed important things that help set up the film. But in the end he was ok and still loved the movie. Woohoo!

After that we went back to my place, ordered pizza, watched some "Family Guy" and started watching "Defending Your Life" but he started falling asleep, so he headed home. It was fun though. I always have fun hanging out with Jed, even if he does drive me nuts sometimes. And I'm glad he liked the movie. That's now 3 people I've taken to see "Serenity" who knew nothing about it previous to seeing the movie, and have loved it. And I also lent my cousin my "Firefly" DVDs and he enjoyed them enough to want to see the movie. So we're seeing it tonight. MUAHAHA!!

Anyway, Saturday I went into work to do that script. I ended up finishing it in about 6 hours, which was not as long as I was expecting. So that was good, because then I got it out of the way and didn't have to come in on Sunday. Sahweet.

Saturday night was a joint birthday party for our friend Joe, and a party for my ex-roommate RDT's return visit to LA. It was really laid back and fun. Maytbe 20-25 people at the most, good conversation, and there were these delicious pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. They were seriously awesome. I had 1 1/2 and could have eaten another, but I resisted. I also managed to resist delicious looking pie. How I did that, I'm not entirely sure, because it seriously looked yummy.

I also got to play with some cute kitties at Joe's apartment. Vanessa was mostly white with some black areas, and Rosie was a pretty orange kitty. Rosie was more playful, and came over to have me pet her and skritch her ears a lot. Plus she loved playing with this laser pointer. It was so funny watching her chase it around the room...hehehe. They were cute kitties, but it made me remember how bad my allergies get when I'm around cats. I wasn't that drippy or sneezy, but I was really sniffy and had a lot of sinus pain. So, no kitties for me. =(

Sunday I was woken up around 10ish by hearing Vic cheering and clapping in the living room. I almost went back to bed, but then I realized it sounded like a good game, so I got up and put on my slippers to go watch with him. The Packers KICKED ASS!!! 52 to 3! Yeah, baby! It was such a good game. Let's hope they can keep it up!

After the game, Me, Vic and Erik headed to Mann's Chinese Theater to see a film festival that "Peace" was in. It was really fun and we saw some other short films too. One was really good, a couple were ok, and one I couldn't stand. I'd say "Peace" was the best out of all of them. And not at all because I'm biased. Well...maybe just a little. But it was really fun. Reminded me of student screenings back at IC.

We headed back home, and Doto had invited us over to his place to watch more sports. So Vic loaded up some beer and sausages and the two of us walked over to Doto's apartment. It was me, Vic, Doto and his roommate Mike. We watched the second half of the Eagles v. Cowboys game, and then the Angels v. Yankees game. It was really fun. Though, if you'd told me a year ago that I would be going out of my way to watch football and baseball, I wouldn't have believed you...lol. Vic gets so amused at how he got me into football. I was singing along with the NFL theme music and he started giggling.

*shakes head*

It's funny how much things can change in a year...

All in all, it was a good weekend. From the looks of it, this coming weekend should be good too. Weee! I love October. =)
