This weekend was really nice. It was somehow very low-key and kinda jam-packed at the same time, if possible. But it was definitely full of yard sales.
Saturday morning I was up at 6am after having gone to bed at 2am, drunk. So getting up was reeeeeally fun. It was kinda funny, because when I was talking Line back to the airport, I was so groggy I kept going in the wrong direction. First I got on the 101 South when I wanted North, then got on the 405 North when I wanted South. I finally got the right direction and it was fine from there on. There wasn't any traffic so we zipped over there, I dropped her off at her terminal with a hug, and I zipped home.
The dance people were already at the house and they had a lot set up. I helped with the last bit of set-up and then the yard sale started. It was really really fun and they did amazing. After all was said and done, they made over $500 in 6 hours. How awesome is that?? They were so happy and I was so happy for them. It was really sweet, because they thanked me profusely for helping out. Because I'm not affiliated with the group at all, I just wanted to help because Vic and Amy are on the board and I think it's a good cause. And they're fun people. So to me it was totally worth it.
Today was Ryan's yard sale, and it was a lot slower because it was chilly and overcast. He only made $200, but considering the weather I think it was pretty good. We didn't sell Miriam's couch or table, so I think Ryan is going to put them up on Craigs List to see if they sell. And if not, Goodwill gets them. All in all, both yard sales were pretty damn successful. And they were lots of fun, despite having a few crazy hagglers show up. Seriously people, $1 for a pair of jeans is a fucking amazing price. And if I tell you it's for a fundraiser, that means I am not letting you have it for 50 cents.
Oh, the other thing about the yard sale on Saturday, was that Brian showed up. I had emailed Brian, Jed and my family about donating to the yard sale, and he had mentioned having some stuff but never followed up on it. So I was pretty surprised when he came by with 2 boxes of stuff. We were very grateful, because we sold like $20 worth of his videos, but it was still surprising. And he hung out for a couple hours too, which was cool. So yeah. It was random, but nice I suppose.
Tonight I had a Board meeting with Dan and Jon and we talked about some good stuff. I think we're in a good place and I'm very eager for the upcoming meeting. I think we can do some really great things this year if we just get the website rolling and give everyone a kick in the ass.
