First day of work post

So I got to work a bit early, and ended up waiting around for a half hour or so because I didn't have a computer or TV/VCR set-up for me. Jeremy comes in, introduces me around, gets me some paper-work, and I come back to find I have my very own desk, with my very own Mac my very own TV/VCR set-up for tape logging and my very own phone with my very own extension!

I had a moment of internal giggles when I was told that I have my own extension at work. I've never had one before and it just amuses me so. I want to give it out to everyone and just have them call me on my extension so I can feel important. But not really, because then I'd never get any work done.

After doing some paperwork nonsense, I got to work (!!!) logging some tapes for upcoming episodes of "Intervention." Basically my job consists of mainly watching a lot of TV and entering lots of numbers into my computer. But I did work like it at Objective Productions back in London, so I'm used to it. And I don't mind. I kinda like tedious work sometimes. For some reason I'd rather have 1 job that takes a really long time to finish, than lots of little jobs that finish quickly. It was the same when I was running. I'd rather make 1 trip out to San Pedro or Santa Clarita than lots of little trips around Hollywood. Go figure.

So that was pretty much my day. Introductions, paperwork, logging. There was a brief period when we were running around trying to find a FedEx place that was still available for Express drop-offs, but then there was a glitch and it got cancelled. So back to logging I went. I also fiddled about on AIM and my work email. (I have a work email!) I even made a strictly work AIM, which I will give you if you request it.

So it was a fairly long day at work for an office job, but not that long compared to production jobs. I worked from 9-7 and headed straight to Hollywood for a Production Meeting for Jason's film. There was a dozen of us there, including Jason (duh), Ky, Vic, Jen, Brandy, and some others. It was a very relaxed and fun meeting, because even though Saturday will be a crazy day, it will be insanely fun.

I mean, c'mon! We're shooting a Scottish War re-enactment in Santa Clarita, right across from where they filmed some of "War Of The Worlds." On our day off! At 7am! How is that not insanely fun! I'm the "Depot Manager." Basically, I will be running the Scottish War Re-enactment equivalent of The Cage. Or PPECs if you are really that anal. If you don't get either of those references...I'm basically keeping tabs on cameras. Weee!

After the meeting I came home, ate some leftovers and watched "The Amazing Race." You might be wondering why. Well, I'll tell you. Apparently I am now working with someone who is on this season. I never saw the show before, I probably never will again after this season, but how can I not watch a reality show that a co-worker participated in? That's just too funny to pass up. So I added a new item to TiVo today, so help me.

I think I've rambled enough for tonight.
