When it rains, it pours

So I think I mentioned how I got babysitting jobs from the Craft Service lady from "Peace." If I didn't, I'm about to backtrack. The Craft Service lady was Lisi, and she has a 3 year old daughter named Hunter May who is adorable. I played with her a lil during the shoot and overheard that Lisi needed a sitter. We exchanged numbers and I sat for Hunter while Lisi was at a doctor's appointment.

Lisi picked me up on the way to the office and I sat with Hunter in the courtyard outside the office. Hunter and I took a walk to Starbucks where she got hot chocolate and a cookie and we colored. Then we went back to the courtyard and we played hide 'n seek and I played with her dolls, making them act out stupid, yet amusing scenes. Then I turned into a goblin of some sort and made funny noises while attempting to eat Hunter's shoe. She's 3, so of course she found it hilarious. I'm sure to an adult, I looked like an idiot. But it was fun because she's so cute.

She got cranky towards the end of the day and fell asleep on the car ride back to my house. But now I have a Tuesday/Thursday job babysitting Hunter when she gets back from school those days. So I think I'll be over there from like, 12-5 at $10 an hour. So that'll be about $100 a week. Definitely money I can use.

And then this evening I got a very interesting call. I had emailed my resume to someone from Craig's List about an Indian crossover feature, and then I forgot I sent it. They called wanting to talk to me. Turns out they're in Sherman Oaks, so I popped over for a chat. Even more ironic, they were at the polling place I went to for voting day. And the guy who called me was the volunteer I talked to that day, so I recognized him...lol!!!

Basically it's a low budget feature and the director is a very famous Indian director, but of course I can't for the life of me remember his name. I'm going to be working with the director, finalizing the script and making notes and other creative stuff. I'm doing this for 2 hours a day, 5 days a week for the next month. They're paying me $8 an hour for this, so this is another $80 a week. Then when we go into production, we seem fairly confident that I'll be Script Supervisor at $50 a day. That'll go for 3 weeks. So it all adds up. Basically it's at least a month's rent, and that's one more guaranteed month I get to stay in LA. I'm ecstatic to say the least.

I met 3 guys, including the director and they're all really nice. The guy I talked to the most, from voting day, is Viresh and he's very nice and funny and cute. The director is quiet and observant, but also very nice. He even made me coffee! The other guy who's name I also don't remember and I don't know what his actual job is on the movie, was very quiet also but he was funny when he did speak up. It feels like a very casual but enthusiastic group and I have good feelings about this. Especially since I'll be dealing with the script through all of this, which is what I love.

The great thing is that I can do the pre-production and BKM and babysitting for the next month. I'll go to BKM on MWF from 11:30-3ish, then go to the script work for a couple hours. Tues/Thurs I'll babysit until 5ish, then go to script work after that. Once production starts, I'll have to put a hold on BKM and babysitting, but I'm sure Lisi and John will understand. I also have to see if I want to go back to BKM after this shoot. Unless they're ready to hire me at that point, I don't think so. But we'll see. It's a ways off.

When it rains, it really does pour. If only I could get some sprinkles in my love life...
