So Mom and I saw "Dracula The Musical" today in the city. Oh. good. lord. I have never seen such a god-awful-piece-of-shit play. The music was screechy, unintelligible and completely forgettable. The dialogue was lame and the story felt completely butchered. Don't get me started on the acting. Also the people sitting around us were extremely irritating. There was a youngish guy next to me who was violently shaking his legs and I could feel the vibrations in my seat. Plus he smelled weird.
There were a few things I liked, but minor things. The set was kinda cool at times, although in one graveyard scene there was a huge fake state of what looked like a toddler holding a skull. Very odd. Mom and I bit our lip to keep from laughing. The lighting was good and creepy and I enjoyed the use of dry ice and/or fog machines. My favorite were the 3 vampire chicks. They all had blonde hair all in crazy hairstyles and long, flowy white dresses and jewelery. They sang weird but cool little melodies in the background and flew around on wires all badass like. I liked them, we needed more of them.
Then we went home and Ben and I played DDR. I'm getting better at it too. It's goofy but fun. S'nice to be active a bit too. I've been feeling really sluggish lately, and this is good fun movement. Tomorrow I wanna go into town to the Verizon Wireless store to see if I can get a cell phone with a CA phone number even though I'm still in NY at the moment. I'm thinking maybe I can? We'll see what happens.
Oh! I called Kat again about another place I sent an email about. This time it's a house and I'd have my own bedroom/bathroom. I'd be living with 3 other guys, all late 20's, all in the business. One is a special FX guy, one's an editor and one's some kind of assistant. I talked to John (and he seems very nice) and they don't mind if my cousins come to check it out. That was why I called Kat, but I actually got Beej and he offered to check it out! He did a drive-by tonight and said it looks very cute and it's in a great neighborhood. He has John's number and hopefully will be checking it out this weekend! My cousins are the best in the world. I hope this one will work out.
It's more expensive, but it is a house I'll be living in, not an apartment. It just means my deadline to have a real job will be cut by about 3 months. But I can do it. I know I can. I really want to make this work. Hell, if I can survive in London with horrible roommates and no money, then I can do this. =Þ
