Today started off interesting. The schedule at the beginning of this week said I was in at work at 10:00. So I get up at 8:30, and take the TCAT to work. I get there, and the doors are all locked, and the door that the employees use to get into is also closed. This happens sometimes, so I knock on the door loud, because I figure people are just inside and will hear me. No one comes. I knock more. Nothing. I knock more, and now my knuckles are getting red. Still nothing. I look inside, and I see the coffee sitting there, the lights are on, but no one is around.
I am very confused now, because if people are getting the place ready to open, there should be somebody on the floor. But there's no one. But some stuff is done and the lights are on. So I sit down on the curb and wait. About 15 minutes go by, and Donna-Rose and Esi pull up in Donna's car. Apparently they were supposed to be here at 8:00 and 9:00, but Teresa wasn't there. Esi was able to get in at 8:00 and make the coffee and some popcorn, because the night cleaners let her in. But she couldn't do anything else because it was all locked up. So when Donna-Rose got there, they went to Tops for lunch foods. They came back and got me, and we went again for fruit stuff. I got canteloupe and Esi got a mixed fruit salad.
We figured out at Tops, that Teresa changed the schedule, because we didn't have any early showings this morning. And since there were no early screenings, she pushed everyone back an hour. So Esi and Donna should have been there at 10, and me at noon. Good plan, but the problem is she didn't tell any of us this. We get back to the theater and Teresa is finally there. She figured out that we didn't know about the change, ad she claims that she told Shirley to tell us. We think this is bullshit, because Shirley [a] wouldn't forget to tell us and [b] makes notes of everything, and this wasn't written down in her book. But whatever, we start opening.
Since I wasn't scheduled until noon, I hung around for an hour and did very little. I helped out a little, but not that much. But then I decided to ask Teresa if it was okay if I was paid starting at 10:00, since that is when I got there, and Esi was being paid from 8:00 onward. I wasn't sure if she'd agree to that, but she did after thinking it over. Part of me thinks I don't really deserve to be, since I didn't do that much work from 10-12, but then again I was at the theater on time and got my ass out of bed at 8:30 when I thought I had to be. So then I don't feel so bad. And it's only another $10 or so anyway. Chump change for Regal.
So after that, things were pretty normal. We just had a lot of people on the floor. We had like, 2 box, 2 concessions, 2 runners and a cleaner. Is a lot. I sold a lot of combos, I think. I don't know how many, but I did sell 3 at once which was cool. Eventually it was getting time to go. The night people started coming in, including Nate. Have I mentioned that I love him? Hee! Anyway I invited Esi to come eat sushi with me and Laura, since it was the last time we were working together and to my surprise and glee she said yes! Laura and I were planning on seeing "The Terminal" at 7:10, so I had time to kill.
I hung around the theater a bit, chatting with people (Nate!!one!1!one!!) and then Ben wandered out. He too was hanging around seeing movies, and we were chilling a bit, then went walking around the mall aimlessly for like 20 minutes. We stopped and cooed over the kittens at the pet store. They were adorable kittens and I was so close to kidnapping one. But alas I needed my $50 to get home, so I didn't. But I definitely am getting kittens when I have my own place. After that Ben disappeared to get pepperoni rolls and I went to meet Laura.
We saw the movie and it was so great! I loved it a lot, it was very funny and sweet and touching, but not overly clichéd or sappy. It was very well acted/written/done. After the movie we went to sushi! And Esi broguht her friend Lisel, whom I'd met several times before at the theater. So the 4 of us had dinner together and it was so fun!! It's scary when 4 random people just kinda click, but I felt like we all did. The 4 of us just kinda worked. Esi and I already clicked, and I clicked into place a bit with Lisel, and Esi clicked a bit with Laura. It was very click-tastic. And dinner was yummy. I had a salmon skin roll and shrimp tempura roll. Sadly, we didn't finish dinner in time to see "The Stepford Wives," but Laura and I felt it was better this way, because now we get more sleep. We'd just be getting out of the movie now.
All in all, it was a strange, though good day at work. And the movie and dinner was fabulous. I just hate it when you meet really awesome people, and then they leave you shortly afterwards. It makes me really sad. But Esi goes to NYC a lot and we have contact info, so I hope we keep in touch and meet up a lot. She's just so much fun to hang out with. And tomorrow I get to go hoooooooooooooome! And LA! I'm so excited! I really need this break. So I'll talk to you tomorrow from LI! =Þ
