I am thisclose to killing myself, or someone else

As predicted, today blew completely. It started off okay. I wasn't on my usual side, I was on the Full Serve side with the popcorn. I was kinda iffy about that at first, but then I realized that I wouldn't have to make smoothies or hot dogs or nachos for a day, and I decided it would be a nice break. Plus I was first to arrive on that side, so I got the first register, which is the better register. I sold 5 or 6 combos and Joey shows up. He tries to sign onto his register, and that's when the trouble starts.

His calibration was off, so when he touched the screen, the mouse was out of alignment. He'd touch the far right side of the screen, and the mouse would more around in the middle. So he couldn't punch in, because the numbers weren't registering. He called Teresa and she tried to go into the main menu thing to fix it, but then she couldn't do that either. Joey is pretty new, and really good at selling combos. He sold 61 on Memorial Day, which is absolutely crazy. I think it was partly because he's good, but also partially because it was really busy and there were tons of families. So they just sell more naturally.

But because he sold 61 combos once, he somehow got like, a preferred status above everyone else. So because Joey's register was broken, Teresa kicked me off my register and put him on it. I was extremely pissed. Not at him, because it wasn't his fault. Just at the fucking crap that the combos cause. If they weren't so anal about selling combos, it wouldn't make a fucking difference who was on register and who wasn't. So I got kicked off and did door for a half an hour, while another girl was on break. It wasn't so bad, and I kinda enjoyed ripping tickets for a change. I started to perk up, because I was hoping I could clean with the guys, and then I wouldn't have to deal with the HP3 crowds in the lobby at all.

After I got back from break, I asked Teresa if I could help Ben clean and she said she didn't want me to clean because they had enough cleaners and they don't do anything anyway. (bullshit) So she made me the runner. This pissed me the fuck off majorly. I was really close to crying for one second, but it passed quickly thank god. Runner is the person who goes back and forth to the stock room to keep everything full and in order. On a Saturday, with HP3 just being released, this did not seem like a fun job. I got stock and filled everything up, and then didn't know what to do because we were between sets.

I occupied myself by dusting the video games, vacuuming the hallway, helping clean a theater, doing Rob's theater checks, checking bathrooms, taking out garbage, helping at door, making coffee and other odd jobs. I felt like I was everywhere today. I kinda was. It was really exhausting. And after all that crap, Joey didn't even sell that many combos. I mean, he sold 40something, but Kari sold 30something. So I probably would have sold just as many combos. It just pisses me off how much the combo shit affects people. People get crap jobs because they don't sell combos, people get rewards if they sell a lot, people get nothing if they don't, and some people get really fucking competitive over it.

And there was also more drama among the workers. A projectionist guy made jokes about another girl and had people joke around about it too, and it pissed her off and made her cry and become all dramatic about it. She threatened to quit, which she did last week also when she got in a fight with another girl. I mean, both times it was the other person starting shit, but this girl is just a total drama queen. She insisted that she leave before the guy got here, otherwise she'd quit on the spot. It's so high school. It makes me miss jobs where you had one thing to do, and you did it and it didn't affect anyone else, and there were only 5 people who worked there total, and you didn't ever all work at the same time.

So to to sum up everything, work is starting to piss me off and I'm exhausted. The best part is how I bust my ass all day, working hard for $5.40 an hour. It's ridiculous. I almost wish I had just kept my job at the mailcenter. The work would have been more tedious, but it would have been closer and more money. I'm a tool. Free movies blinded me from more money. The good thing though, is that I'm only here until August. So I only have 2 more cycles of bills to pay for. And there's a two week span where I don't need to buy groceries. So while I'm not exactly rolling in money, I might be able to come home with a few hundred in my pocket.

I have tomorrow and Monday off, and I'm fucking relaxing my ass off.
