[review] Black & Gold - Sam Sparro
motoharu. Not that I know her personally, of course, only by randomly poking my head here and there did I find that out.
♠ Nvm and anyway, I found out that f(x) did a cover of Sam Sparro's Black and Gold. No idea if they sang or danced to it but I was more excited about that than I was about 'Womanizer'. *dodges flying tomatoes* Plus, of course, they had other good stuff such as Luna's and Amber's solo acts. Okay. Straying again. And yes, their Lachata music video came out on the 2nd. Gosh, I'm just too curious for comfort to see what they can do.
♠ I first heard Black and Gold from Katy Perry. Man, I was hooked on it for DAYS. So imagine my surprise when I found out it was a cover. Yes, imagine - me, not knowing that Black & Gold was a Grammy nominated Sam Sparro original. The chorus is just solid 24 carat gold. It spins in your head against your control but that's okay. It's chorus starts with " 'cause if you're not really here" followed by "then the stars don't even matter" as sung by Katy's almost crisp falsetto, just hollows up my soul. It's as if I'm going thru the same motions the lyrics intended. Ah~ the classic captured heart lingo comes to mind.

♠Next stop, I quickly headed out to get my own copy of Sam Sparro's original R&B Electro number. I just looove, <3 the starting guitar low riff echoed with a light keyboard technique. Then the drums let themselves in, followed by Sam's moody voice. Yes, he's irritated that "'cause if you're not really here" ~I don't wanna be either.~ I wanna be next to you". Pure win. ~as the chorus ends like a heartfelt calling on soft beats and drum slaps.
Rating: A-
♠Adele did the same cover in 2008 but alas, she made it a key lower then necessay. Epic fail as it lacked the vocal poweress and attitude that both Katy and Sam exuded. So not feeling it.
