Drabbles: Tapotement/Infinite

Two today, because I have the feeling that the first one only qualifies because I've used the name 'Jack' but I enjoyed writing it too much not to put it in here.

Tapotement

Percussion in massage.

Oh, but Jack’s good at this. Fingers digging into flesh, judging pressure, angle, speed and duration just right. Muscles melt like butter, becoming as liquid as the oil that runs over hot skin. If it goes on forever, it won’t be long enough.

After soothing, there is stimulating. An easy, gentle rhythm, percussive in counterpoint to the drifting tune that Jack hums under his breath. The melody is unknown, almost alien and hauntingly beautiful and it soothes the mind as the body's cares are pounded away by those strong, skilful hands. All is lost, surrendered into this single, perfect moment.

Title: Infinite drabble

Summary: Jack's been waiting for the question

Infinite

"How long?"

Jack's been waiting for the question for a while. Ianto's no fool and he knows the archives better than anyone alive.

Stalling, Jack shrugs. "A while."

Ianto frowns. "I've found things going back to the early twentieth century. How much further do I need to go?"

"How much further do you want to go?"

At first, there is no answer, then, "As far as I can."

"Then go."

When he is alone, Jack wonders whether he will be fielding the same question in twenty years. Or a hundred. Because he doesn't know how much further he can go.
