At first glance, 2010 has been a year full of suck. However when I consider that 2010 was the year that I got rid of my debt, went on two dive trips, and learned to like (or live with) my job it turns out it wasn't all bad.
Hopefully 2011 will be the year of prosperity, new opportunities, and the year I buy a car. We began the new year with a polar plunge at Bukpu Beach. EPIK Jonny (soon to be Uidok Jonny) made a really good video of the whole thing at the bottom. We also started off the year with a freak snow storm here in Pohang. Pohang almost never gets snow but we got over 12 inches in about a day. The bizarre part is that the storm mostly hit only Pohang County and left adjacent counties relatively untouched.
Another reason 2011 is looking up is that we hired some new teachers. We got rid of the problem teacher and I had a hand in choosing the new teachers. As a result I will be working with at least 4 friends new semester
December was a busy month. We had our grading, which needed to be done with even less time. We also had three consecutive weekends with Bday parties, Xmas Parties, or NYE. I turned 30 on the 19th. Turns out that two other people have the same birthday as me and Will Jr was also turning 30 two days later.
The Xmas party was pretty good, but it could have been much better with just a bit more planning. EPIK Jonny and I were planning something and someone whose intention was a party just for her friends unwittingly beat us to the punch. Same restaurant and everything!
New Years Eve was decidedly mediocre. Most of the town was in Thailand so Tilt was relatively dead. Everyone brought a bottle of champagne. As per my usual NYE tradition I didnt get a kiss at midnight, but I did pound two bottles of champagne and went home.
I am going to the Philippines again in February. I am returning to Alona and some folk from Korea will be joining me. I am going to try and upgrade my dive license to Rescue Diver or higher.
